Hall of Whispers

Cassix Lodestone and Quove Lentis, discussing the Archemax on the tiled floor of the Hall of Whispers

The Hall of Whispers was the main debating chamber of the Great Glade Academy, located in the Cloud Quarter district of the city. The chamber had a floating lectern in the centre, large round windows, a tiled floor, and three massive floating benches for academics to sit whilst listening to speeches. These speeches were to impress other academics and to improve their reputations. It was customary for 'cushion-holders' to pound their cushions in applause afterwards.[1]

The Hall of Whispers functioned through arcane rules. With its guidelines and tiled floor, meeting with other academics was like playing a board game. Violation of the rules would result in expulsion from the Hall. Speakers had to whisper, hence the name of the Hall. Running was forbidden. A single tile could be used by no more than two academics at the same time. Approaching a high professor required an academic to only walk on completely unoccupied tiles.[1]

During the events of The Immortals, Most High Academe Malleus Durvilix gave a rousing speech in honour of Founder’s Day. Soon afterwards, the dean of the School of Edge Cliff Studies, Cassix Lodestone, and the High Professor of Flight, Quove Lentis, met in the Hall of Whispers to discuss the fate of the Archemax. Quove had persuaded the Great Glade Council to lend them the phraxship, captained by Cirrus Gladehawk, but the expedition did not go as planned. Quove informed Cassix that his goals would now be impossible; another voyage would not be funded by the Great Glade Academy.[1]
