Ceremony for the Dead

Tuntum's ceremony for the dead
"From the first lightning bolt you came, O, Sky flame! (O, Sky flame!)
Sky fire, light the pyre, return to open sky again, O, Sky Flame! (O, Sky flame!)
"

The Ceremony for the Dead was a funeral tradition of the woodtrolls. The dead body would be shrouded in woodspider silk and put on a sky-raft made of buoyant lufwood on a scentwood platform. The present woodtrolls would press their hands together in prayer and chorus the words of the one who torched the pyre with the "celestial flame". The sky-raft then soared upward into Open Sky.[1]

Role in the Edge Chronicles
