Excel file in 2016 version freezes and high CPU usage but works fine in excel 2007

An Excel file i downloaded from a site works fine in excel 2007 but it freezes and shows high CPU usage for a long duration. I am not using any addins in Excel, There is no macro in the file, many hyperlinks etc are used in the file.

I would suggest, run wpr.exe -start GeneralProfile then reproduce the issue, after say 25-30 seconds, run: wpr.exe -stop C:\slowexcel.etl Once you have this file, maybe you can zip and share it or if you like, go to the MS store and get Windows Performance Anlayzer and open the trace to see for example the stacks, cpu usage by module, etc.. – HelpingHand – 2020-02-08T16:54:29.973
