I have 2 HP SAS SSD drives I acquired as part of a bulk purchase of parts. One is HPE Model: DOPE1920S5xnNMRI and the other is HPE Model:ARFX1920S5xnMTRI I have 6 servers here with Raid Controllers. Most are older LSI cards like 9208's I have 1 Dell H730 and 1 H330. All of them show the drives, but they are all locked or unusable. If I have to get a different Raid Controller, I would like to know what kind to get. If there is a firmware update for the drives or LSI cards, I cannot find it. I'm not really read up on HPE SSD drives, but I'm getting the impression that HPE locked them to only work on HPE servers at this point.

  • these disk model seems to come from a 3PAR storage unit. I guess you can't use them as individual storage. Their firmware made them dedicated hardware for their 3PAR controller. – dominix Jan 11 '22 at 00:55
