I'm trying to manage a configuration policy for windows devices in Endpoint manager. I've added the rule: Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings

and want to manage some exceptions (like usb keyboard, mouse ecc), these are fairly easy to do with the "Allow installation of devices that match any of these device IDs" rule and adding the relative classes.

I'm now trying to give exceptions for certain USB dongles and MicroSD cards, I don't want to enable these devices generally but enable only specific dongles and cards. I've tried using the Hardware ID or the instance ID with no luck as either it doesn't work or it allows the use of too many devices.

Any idea on how to approach this problem with Endpoint?

  • Here's a tip: Open an Office 365 support case from your tenant. It's free. They'll help you with this and you'll learn something in the process.
