I found a Django project and failed to get it running in Docker container in the following way:

  1. git clone git clone https://github.com/NAL-i5K/django-blast.git
  2. $ cat requirements.txt in this files the below dependencies had to be updated:
    • psycopg2==2.8.6

I have the following Dockerfile:

For docker-compose.yml I use:

I had to change:

$ vim i5k/settings_prod.py
DATABASES = {

        'PASSWORD': 'postgres',
        'HOST': 'db',
        'PORT': '5432',

}

Next, I ran docker-compose up --build

under db in compose add the line

db:
  .
  .
  .
  ports:
    - "5482:5432"    #these are example ports

then in your settings_prod.py, ensure that DATABASES includes the proper port

import myproj.settings
myproj.settings.DATABASES = {. . ., 'PORT' : '5482', . . .}

your settings_prod.py should also include the following:

and finally, you should import settings_prod.py from each jupyter notebook you use
