His YouTube channel, podcasts and internet journalism Ttangji Ilbo (딴지일보) are gaining huge popularity among Korea's middle-aged liberals. But Ttangji Ilbo is basically more of a yellow journalism.

Extremist tendencies and positions

In South Korea, he is accused by the conservative camp of having a liberals bias, but he is more of an anti-Western and anti-Japanese Nationalist than liberal.

The following are his controversial political positions.

  • He takes an anti-American and conspiracy theorist view of the Cheonan incident.File:Wikipedia's W.svg He falsely claimed that the joint team had concluded that it was a torpedo because of the wrong arithmetic.
  • In a Feb. 1, 2018 show on South Korean air network SBS's[note 1] political current affairs program, Kim Eo-jun's Black House, defended Norman Finkelstein, reporting as if it were true the conspiracy theory that Jews held world capital and were manipulating American politics with the capital. But controversy did not arise from this because there are few Jewish residents in the South Korea.[1]
  • He lashed out at Juan Guaido and Venezuela's anti-government forces as far-rightists.[2]
  • He negatively assessed MeToo movement as if it were a political act of conservatives when some liberal politicians in the South were also involved in sex crimes en masse.
  • He once supported Trump. To be exact, before the 2020 U.S. presidential election. He once said that considering relations with North Korea, it is better for Trump to be re-elected than Biden. However, he has not supported Trump since Biden was elected.[3]
gollark: It also works in `mbs`.
gollark: No, that's in potatOS.
gollark: You can even conveniently do `x = assert(thing)`, because the return value of `assert` there is `thing`.
gollark: Maybe I could make a useful utility library out of the random code I copy between projects a lot, like `map`, `fread`, `fwrite`, `fetch` and all that.
gollark: Also an approximate cross-server TPS measuring thing, although that's something like 5 lines of code and really does not need a library much (unless I add rolling averages and stuff).
