Background and Identification

Apple’s iPhone can be paired with a variety of accessories, both from Apple itself and third-party retailers. Common accessories include cases, portable chargers, charging cases, etc. Of course, headphones and speakers are often paired with the iPhone as well.

Apple sells a wide range of iPhone cases, including their standard silicone and leather options, as well as charging cases. Apple’s iPhone 11 Smart Battery Case, listed for $129 as of summer 2020, provides two very notable upgrades from the standard Apple silicone case: a battery and a camera button. The case provides up to 50% longer battery life to users and can be recharged while the phone itself is charging. This case also has a camera button that allows the user to snap a quick photo without unlocking the phone or interacting with the device itself. This could be a useful feature for capturing the squirrel that just stole your lunch or your child’s first steps before the moment disappears.

The most common reason for an iPhone accessory to require repair is battery failure. Replacing the battery in your portable charger or charging case can be a quick fix that extends the accessory’s lifespan for many months to come.

iPhone cases span the size of the phone, are usually relatively thin, and include cutouts for the rear-facing camera. Charging cases are generally thicker and have a charging stub located on the front center of the case (in line with the iPhone’s charging port).
