Background

Released in late 2020, the Xbox Series X serves as the debut of Microsoft’s new line of Xbox Series consoles. With a completely new form factor prioritizing cooling and Microsoft’s new Velocity architecture, the new Xbox Series X boasts backwards compatibility with existing Xbox One devices and games, even letting users use their existing Xbox One controllers. Xbox One and select Xbox 360 and original Xbox games will be backwards compatible.

The Xbox Series X targets true 4K gaming at 120 fps. It features a system-on-chip (SoC) with AMD’s Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU architectures to deliver 12 teraflops of graphical computing performance, double that of last generation’s Xbox One X.

Select game titles will have an “Optimized for Series X|S” icon, offering faster load times, higher resolutions, and smoother frame rates. The Xbox Series X is available in a dark black finish and includes a redesigned Xbox controller featuring a new share button, textured triggers and bumpers, and a new D-pad.

The Xbox Series X has two model numbers: RRT-00010 and RRT-00003.

The most often replaced Xbox Series X parts include the power supply, fan, wi-fi board, motherboard, and case components.

Identification

The Series X is a black rectangular box, standing vertically. It's quite a bit larger than the One X and One S and is designed to resemble a small PC tower. The ports on the back come with some tactile identification in the form of tiny raised dots. There is a Master Chief logo on the massive fan which can be seen by removing the back panel.

The model number and other information can be found on the back of the console.
