Background and Identification
The Nostalgia Chocolate Fondue Fountain CFF965 is a three-tier fountain that holds up to 24 oz. The fountain features a tower, an auger, and a fondue bowl connected to a base that includes a control switch to turn on the motor and/or heater. The device was released in 2017 and has not been discontinued—the device is still available for $49.99 USD through the Nostalgia Products Website. However, the only available country to which to ship is the United States.
The intended user group of this device is most likely families or companies who host special events where food is provided. The Nostalgia Products Websites specifically advertises that their “Chocolate fountain is perfect for birthday parties, family gatherings, wedding and baby showers!” (++Nostalgia Products++). There are no known failure modes or manufacturer recalls. The majority of online reviews are positive, however the most widespread complaints are about the heating components (not hot enough, so the chocolate clogs) and the motor (noisy and sometimes faulty).
This device replaced the Nostalgia Chocolate Fountain CFF300, which was a smaller, brown Fountain. The CFF986 Fountain and the CFF1000 Fountain were developed after this device (the CFF965). These newer models are larger, have four tiers, and a silver base. The tower of the former is designed like a standard chocolate fountain tower, while that of the latter includes three small inclines per level, that spiral the chocolate down to the base bowl.
Specifications
This Nostalgia Chocolate Fountain (model number CFF965) looks like a standard chocolate fountain: a cylindrical, compact base to hold electronics, with a bowl on top to hold molten chocolate, and a tower that extends vertically from the bowl, from which the chocolate drips. There is an auger within the tower that carries the chocolate upward—but it is not visible from the outside, when the Fountain is fully assembled. While this Chocolate Fountain does look like many other chocolate fountains on the market, this model can be distinguished by a gray “Nostalgia™ Electrics” logo on the front of the base, above the on/off switch.
This device includes a tower (inner diameter 3.49cm, outer diameter of bottom tier 12.38cm, outer diameter of middle tier 9.21cm, outer diameter of top tier 6.67cm, length 18.61cm), auger (18.42cm x 8.08cm), bowl (19.37cm outer diameter, thickness ~2.86cm), and base (11.43cm tall, bottom diameter 12.70cm, top diameter 16.19cm). It weighs 453.59g. The dimensions of the assembled product are 21.59cm by 21.59cm by 27.18cm. The fountain is only available in black.
The device requires 120 V to produce 40 W, 0.33 A, and 60 Hz. When measured manually, the motor uses 39.50 W, which, when calculated, implies 0.33 A and 364.56 Ω, and the heating plate uses 18.90 W, which, when calculated, implies 0.16 A and 761.90 Ω.
