Background

The EVGA X17 is a wired, first-person shooter gaming mouse made by EVGA. The mouse was released on February 3rd, 2021. The EVGA X17 is a black mouse with an ergonomic design meant to be used for first-person shooter gaming. The mouse features customizable RGB lighting, an LOD sensor paired with Pixar’s 3389 optical sensor, and a native 8000Hz report rate. This mouse connects to a device via a USB 2.0 High-Speed 32-bit Arm Cortex-M33 core USB microprocessor.

The EVGA X17 can be found on the EVGA website at $49.99. It is among the EVGA Gaming Mice series, which contains the X12, X15, X17, and X20 gaming mice. Each mouse is designed for different gaming purposes, the X15 is for MMO (massively multiplayer online) games and has several more programmable buttons compared to the X17 without as many adjustable weights, and the X20 is a Bluetooth wireless variant of the X17. One of the most common issues users experience with the X17 model involves the degradation of the mouse wheel, some users report the wheel loosening or stiffening, and others report total loss from the wheel snapping.

Identification

This model can be identified by its black shell, cord, and buttons. The EVGA logo is imprinted onto a silver edge piece next to the right button in gray. The scroll wheel features an asterisk design along the wheel surface. When plugged in, light emanates from both the scroll wheel web and the 3-opening grates in the front of the mouse.

On the underside of the mouse, just above the sensor and below the CIN and S/N barcodes, is the product's name, displayed as "EVGA | X17."
