Background
The Apple IIc was developed as Apple's first take on the portable computer; the c in IIc stands for compact. It was designed to be marketable to first-time users who had no technical or computer background. Although the computer itself was fairly portable, it took a few years before the monitor and other equipment could be moved as easily.
Identification
The Apple IIc is easily identified by the IIc marked on the top right corner of the device and the volume knob on the left underside of the computer. Its successors would have a different model listed and no volume knob.
