Medium aberration, unaligned Armor Class 15 (natural armor)
Damage Resistances cold Flyby. The skytail doesn't provoke an opportunity attack when it flies out of an enemy's reach. Lightning Absorption. Whenever the skytail is subjected to lightning damage, it takes no damage and instead gains a number of hit points equal to the lightning damage dealt. Slippery. The skytail has advantage on ability checks and saving throws made to escape a grapple. Weak Point. The tip of the skytail's tail has a cluster of nerves fragile to conventional weaponry. A melee weapon attack made against its tail tip inflicts double damage, as if the skytail was vulnerable to this damage. Any attack roll made as a called shot, such as against this weak point, is normally made with disadvantage. ACTIONSBite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage.

A skytail has a long, serpent-like body covered mostly with brown bark-like scales, and graced with numerous pairs of feathered pale green wings. One end of its body ends in a bulbous pink tail tip, while the other ends in a beetle-like face with scissor-like mandibles. These bizarre creatures can spend their entire lives flying, and are found almost exclusively in the upper atmosphere seeking out thunderstorms. They are capable of absorbing the energy of lightning, which serves as their primary food source. Other nutrients are on rare occasions hunted from high-flying birds, such as loftwings. |
