This page is of questionable balance. Reason: "Save or die" effects (in the form of ooze's kiss) at this CR aren't fun

Amorphous. The intelligent ooze can move through a space as narrow as one inch without squeezing.

Ooze Link. When in contact with another sentient ooze, both can communicate telepathically with the other. This connection breaks when they loose contact.

Ooze Nature. A sentient ooze creature type is both humanoid and ooze. It doesn't require sleep, instead it enters an inanimate trance for 6 hours. After resting in this manner, it gains the same benefits as it would have from 8 hours of sleep.

ACTIONS

Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5ft, one target. Hit: 5 (1d4+3) bludgeoning damage and the creature is grappled (escape DC 13).

Ooze's kiss. The sentient ooze may turn a grappled creature into another sentient ooze. They may use their action to kiss a willing or grappled humanoid. If the creature is unwilling , it makes a DC 13 Constitution saving throw. If it succeeds, it successfully manages to repel the kiss and is immune to the ooze's kiss of all sentient oozes for 24 hours. If it failed the saving throw, however, their lips will turn to goo. The goo spreads around their body, converting flesh to slime. During this transformation, the sentient ooze's body turns into an egg-like shape, enclosing the subject, then hardening the outside of the "egg", keeping the subject trapped and protected as the transformation commences. The creature is incapacitated and immune to all damage, while the ooze transforms into the egg.

They stay in this state for 1 hour. While converting the humanoid, the sentient ooze may slightly alter some physical features such as height and they may give the humanoid features relating to one gender of their choice, not depending on the humanoids previous gender. If the transformation ends, the eggs that surrounds the creature softens and turns back into the sentient ooze, while the target creature is transformed into another sentient ooze. The shell has an AC of 8, has 200 Hit Points and is resistant to acid, cold, fire, lightning and all bludgeoning, piercing and slashing from nonmagical attacks. If the eggs is reduced to 0 Hit Points, the ooze perishes, while the subject is freed with no ill effects.

Indoctrination. During the transformation into a sentient ooze, the transforming ooze establishes a mental link with the target of its oozes's kiss where it will communicate with the target and teach its “baby” how to control its new body, while also trying to indoctrinate it into ooze society and (unwittingly) into the cult of Jubilex. At the end of 24 hours, the subject must make three DC 13 Wisdom saving throws. The effect of the creatures indoctrination is dependent on the amount of failed saving throws:

  • 0 failed saving throws: The creature retains all of its memories and personality.
  • 1 failed saving throw: If the creature's alignment was any evil alignment, it becomes now chaotic evil. If it was any neutral alginment, it becomes chaotic neutral. If it was any good alignment, it becomes chaotic good. They retain most of their memories pertaining to family, friends and relationships and feel a strong connection to other oozes.
  • 2 failed saving throws: The creature's alignment changes to chaotic neutral and the only retain some of their previous memories relating to family friends and relationships. But they will feel a stronger connection and being with the race of oozes rather than their previous race and family. The new ooze also feels a connection between them and the ooze who converted them, similar to a parent-child relationship.
  • 3 failed saving throws: The creature's alignment is changed to chaotic evil and they no longer feel any emotional connection to their previous family, friends and race, seeing themselves as a new being compared to their previous form. They lose all their memories and become a devout servant of Jubilex.

Slaying the converting ooze beforehand stops the indoctrination, but does not return the creature's body to normal.

Reclusive oozes that transform others into their own.

Intelligent Ooze Girl

Children of the Faceless Lord. A sentient ooze is a rare type of ooze which may be found with small gatherings of other oozes or in solitude. They prefer to reside in dark underground locations and will typically keep other non-intelligent oozes as pets and company. They prefer to avoid conflict, disguising themselves as harmless poodles of water if enemies approach. Tales tell of two powerhungry cultists, worshipers of Jubilex, the creator of all oozes. They were attempting to sacrifice their daughter to the Faceless Lord. But instead of feeding on her essence, the demon lord gifted her with great power and made her its queen in the material realm. She gained control over all oozes and could transform a humanoid's flesh and bones to slime with just a single kiss. From her came the race of sentient oozes. They see and treat her as a motherly figure, helping their race along their way. Being creatures of Jubilex, they were evil at their beginning, but the influence of the Faceless Lord waned as its minions spread too hastily, transforming countless mortals into oozes. The indoctrination was often incomplete, and the new unattended converted found it easy to cling to their senses of self, rejecting the Faceless Lord in favor of their queen. Nowadays, Jubilex' will only manifests in the rarest cases. His sentient ooze agents keep hidden, waiting until the time is right to strike again. They convert more recklessly, reasoning that even a defiant ooze is a gain for their lord.

An Oozing Infection. The body of sentient ooze is made of a thick, flowing ooze coming in a range of cool colors ranging from blue to green to purple, very rarely deviating from this spectrum. They may appear to have specifically male or female features, but they have no biological sex. They instead require a living humanoid to produce offspring. Through what is known as an ooze's kiss, the sentient ooze converts other humanoids into their own and indoctrinates them into ooze society. Sentient oozes avoid spreading too fast or with illicit measures, lest they draw the ire of other sentient species. As a rule of thumb, new converts are created either as a punishment for a crime or from volunteers. Still, they sometimes face vigilant attacks because of their history and misguided adventurers looking to "rescue" a volunteer from their clutches.

Characters as Sentient Oozes

If transformed into a sentient ooze, a player character loses their racial traits, except ability score increases, speed and size. They acquire the ooze link, ooze nature, and amorphous features of the sentient ooze. Depending on the circumstances, being forcibly assigned a gender they don't identify as can traumatize a character or at least make them feel uncomfortable. A PC can decide to take a personality trait describing the character's way to deal with this situation. Depending on the level of the indoctrination, the DM may decide to assume control of the character until the indoctrination is cured. The effects of ooze's kiss and the indoctrination can each be reversed by a lesser restoration spell if the transformation happened no longer than a year ago. Than, only a greater restoration spell can return the creature to normal.

gollark: If interests allows multiple values to be submitted instead of just one string, it makes a sort of deluded sense.
