Physical Description

Source

Jynx are bipedal, humanoid pokemon garbed in a red gown-like garment that slightly drags on the ground, hiding it's feet, with golden circles on the chest of the gown. It has purple skin and white arms, and on it's face are puffy, pink lips with it's head adorned with long, blonde hair.

On rare occasions, some Jynx have been known to exhibit light purple skin with platinum blonde hair. These variants wear a pink down instead of a red one. In extremely rare cases some have been found to have red arms and black skin, in addition to their more normal colors.

History

Jynx were first discovered in the icy-cold cave systems in the Seafoam Islands in the Kanto region. However, they can be found almost anywhere there is ice or snow, along with their Smoochum young, which were first discovered in the Johto region. Despite preferring to live in caves, some Jynx choose to live among people.

People's opinion on Jynx vary, with some believing them to be hags due to how they live in groups of 3 or more, much like a hag's coven, or witches because of their secretive language and strange hypnotic dancing. Some have even compared them to succubi due to their dancing. However, others depict them in a more positive light, such as in the place of elves as Saint Nick's helpers. Regardless, Jynx are usually good natured, and some even work in hospitals as assistant nurses.

Society

As stated before, Jynx often live in groups of 3 or more, not counting their Smoochum young. They speak their own, secret language that sounds almost like a human language. This language, known as Jynxian, has yet to be deciphered and Jynx themselves seem keen on keeping it secret. However, although it has a spoken language, they tend to communicate by swaying it's hips rhythmically almost as if it were dancing. Strangely enough, people who see Jynx as it does it's dance tend to start dancing in unison with it. Stranger still is some musicians will compose songs for Jynx to sing in it's strange language.

Adult Jynx are very protective of their young. In one case where a Smoochum was kidnapped from it's three Jynx sisters, the trio pursued the thieves into a city and began freezing everything in sight until the young Smoochum was returned to them.

Jynx Names

Jynx are exclusively female and thus have female names. Their names are usually Jynxian, but most Jynx who reside with humans adopt a Common name.

Jynx Traits

Humanoid pokemon whose hypnotic sashaying is as mysterious as it's unique, special language.
Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 1 and your Charisma score increases by 2.
Age. Jynx mature at age 30, but can live for about 150 years.
Alignment. Jynx are usually neutral and are generally good natured.
Size. Jynx stand at 4 foot 7 inches tall. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Oblivious. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed.
Dry Skin. You have vulnerability to fire damage and resistance to cold damage. In addition, if you short rest in a body of water, rain or similar water based environments you gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus, while you have at least 1 hit point. These temporary hit points last until your next long rest.
Strange Dance. You are proficient in the Performance skill.
Lovely Kiss. You can use an action to give a creature within 5 feet of you a magic-imbued kiss. Upon doing so, the creature must succeed a Charisma saving throw. The DC for this saving throw is equal to 8 + your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus. On a failed save the creature falls unconscious until the end of your next turn or until it either takes damage or another creature uses it's action to wake it. After you use your Lovely Kiss, you can’t use it again until you complete a long rest.
Languages. You can speak, read and write Common and Jynxian. Jynxian sounds almost like Common, but those who speak Common cannot understand it, and it's script almost appears to be some cross between Elvish and Dwarven scripts, although no one is quite sure if this is a coincidence or not. This is possibly because, like the Halfling language, it is a language that it's speakers are loathe to share with others.

gollark: > Frame analysis (also called framing analysis) is a multi-disciplinary social science research method used to analyze how people understand situations and activities. Frame analysis looks at images, stereotypes, metaphors, actors, messages, and more. It examines how important these factors are and how and why they are chosen. This seems unrelated.
gollark: What is a ”frame analysis” and why not use bigger samples?
gollark: That seems unthingy.
gollark: For purposes only.
