Inherited Sorcery (3.5e Variant Rule)

Inherited Sorcery

Inherited sorcery is a version of sorcery that can be gained by any character. This represents some powers or abilities that are gained via a character's heritage (whether that be racial, ancestral, spiritual, or regional).

Inherited sorcery is not appropriate in all games, and you should have your DM approval before you follow this direction.

Inherited sorcery is not as powerful as the sorcerer class. Used well, these abilities can work well with any character class.

This option is only available at character creation. By spending a general feat, you gain access to the birth feats that comprise these abilities.

Enchanted Blood 0 [General]

Your enchanted bloodlines gives you magical abilities.

Prerequisites

Character Creation, Charisma 13+

Benefits

You have the blood of a magical creature in your heritage. This heritage may be from a distant ancestor, your parents, or even some strange magical accident. These manifest as spell-like abilities.

Choose a spell school. From this school (or any Universal spell), choose two 0-level sorcerer/wizard spells. You may use each once per day as a spell-like ability. You may choose the same spell more than once, allowing you to use that ability two times per day.

Using a spell-like ability is a standard action. Your caster level is equal to your character level. The ability's DC is based on Charisma.

You may not choose spells which require an expenditure of experience or gold.

Taking this feat reduces your arcane and divine caster level by one, but never less than 1/2 your character level. This reduction in caster level only affects non-sorcerer caster levels.

The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a character's ability is 10 + the spell level + the character's Charisma modifier.

Sorcery abilities are regained at dawn after the character has rested.

gollark: That was broken by claimflag permission changes or something.
gollark: Yet again, people insist on trying to run the rail system OUT OF SPEC.
gollark: But I worry that that sort of thing could sometimes lead to infinite loops.
gollark: The best thing I can come up with for now is to do the somewhat naive somewhat Factorio-style thing of tracking whether carts are currently using a segment of track (in the other direction), and if so forcing a reroute.
gollark: Unfortunately, it seems like proper signalling in case two things want to use one track is Very Hard™.
