Fallen Angel

An angel banished to the infernal realms.

Many gods have servants. These individuals normally follow the tenants of a deity to the hilt, but occasionally individuals will deviate from the strict requirements of a deity. When an angel goes against a gods wishes more often than not the individual is cast from grace and becomes a fallen angel; forever severed from the deities home plane, these creatures are forced to wander other planes until their eventual demise.

Creating a Fallen Angel

To become a fallen angel the character must first be an angel. Since the individual is cast out for his radical interpretations they must be a minimum of two degrees different from their deities alignment (i.e. LG deity, angel must be N, LE, NE, or any chaotic.) Depending on the angel they may either swear allegiance to another deity or remain unaligned. If the angel is unaligned or is currently out of favor the angel dies permanently if slain.

gollark: Your type now contains 9 bits of information.
gollark: Too bad, I added logarithms.
gollark: Well, there are 0 possible states for ! because it can never exist, and log 0 is undefined. QED. Bees apiforms.
gollark: So the information content is just the logarithm of the possible state count?
gollark: Yes.

Size and Type

Fallen angels retain their base size, and lose any sub types they may possess they no longer qualify for. The fallen angel does gain an alignment subtype if they swear worship to a new deity or power. The angel is not transformed into a demon, and thus retains their angel subtype.

Special Qualities

  • Resistance to acid and cold 10
  • Resistance to electricity and fire 5
  • Darkvision out to 60 feet and low-light vision.
  • +4 racial bonus on saves against poison.
  • Immune to petrification
  • Divine Grace (Su): A fallen angel gains a bonus equal to their Charisma bonus (if any) on all saving throws.
  • Tongues (Su): All angels can speak with any creature that has a language, as though using a tongues spell (caster level equal to angel’s Hit Dice). This ability is always active.

Feats

When an angel falls from grace they do not gain or lose any feats, though they will lose access to any feats they no longer qualify for (such as exalted feats.) If they possess any class skills that would be altered due to their new alignment all bonuses are recalculated as normal.

Environment

Access to any plane except for their original home plane. Even when using spells the individual will be unable to access the plane of existence they are now barred from. The deities control is too strong to allow the individual entrance.

Organization

Fallen angels normally do not have a significant organization. While powerful, in most cases there are very few (if any) fallen angels active at any one time. Rivals and enemies normally take immediate action when an angel falls, as they are much easier to permanently destroy during any time frame they no longer have a patron.

Challenge Rating

Unchanged from the original angel.

Alignment

Any alignment that is removed at least two steps from the Deity they serve. This represents the gap that the individual has with their patron.

Advancement

As base creature.

Level Adjustment

+2
