A buckler is a small metal shield held in a fist grip. As it is not strapped, it can be donned or doffed as easily as drawing or stowing a weapon. While you are wielding this buckler and defending against a melee weapon attack, your Armor Class is effectively increased by half your Dexterity modifier, rounded up.
You can only benefit from one shield at a time.
