p156 Hans Leo hassler
P156 Hans Leo hassler[note 1] is a period-156 traffic light hassler discovered by Noam Elkies on January 4, 1995,[1] and was the first period 156 oscillator to be found. It features two crowns turning a traffic light into a B-heptomino, and two eater 1s that then turn the B-heptomino back into a traffic light.

Elkies also found that the oscillator has several simple variants with an alternative phase of one of the crowns, leading to a period 144 version. It can even be made to be period 96 with figure eights, or period 132 with two copies of unix.
On November 10, 2019, Entity Valkyrie found a period 288 version of this oscillator.[2]

gollark: Idea: upgrade to a Pentium 4.
gollark: Eventually won't you spend more on maintaining piles of outdated tech than new stuff would cost?
gollark: As a cool person with modern ish AMD stuff, I might be able to get PCIe 4 on my board eventually with a new CPU, not that it matters much.
gollark: Old/few PCIe lanes?
gollark: It'll probably occasionally matter.

- The name could be a reference to Hans Leo Hassler, a famous German composer.
