• Cliché Storm: This show is an example of one, as well as consciously discussing it. Secrets of the Super Prominent Protagonist gag Show Within a Show looks similar to The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Cliches. Good thing we have TV Tropes to list them easily.

  • Also, the show starts with Akari being Late for School, with a slice of toast hanging out of her mouth. Very few anime can get more cliched than that.
• Dude, Not Funny: How some audience reacts to a certain scene at the end of episode 5. For others, however...
• Family-Unfriendly Aesop: Anime episode 11: If your friends start acting weird, hit them in the head with wooden swords!
• Fridge Logic: So, why did Kyouko smell Ayano's shoes, again?
• Internet Backdraft - Among Yuri Fans there have arguments/concerns/disapproval over the fact the Yuri is subtextual instead of being open. Normally a Moe Slice of Life with Les Yay overtunes such as this wouldn't get such scorn. The problem/concern stems from the fact it's serialized in a Yuri Hime S, has yuri in its title and is the series with the least amount of Yuri in the magazine, is supposedly the best seller in the magazine - prompting discussions about exactly what Otaku want in their Yuri - and it's the one out of the magazine to get a anime. Considering the fact it's serialized in a Yuri magazine some people would expect characters who are openly lesbian or at least start falling in love with each other, and more actual Yuri but no...
• Moe
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • This MAD of Akarin. Warning: not for the faint of heart.
  • Episode 10: Chitose trying to stop a nosebleed. It pours out of her huge, bloodshot eyes.
• Unpopular Popular Character: There are Akari fans who hate seeing her as the show's Out of Focus Butt Monkey, and there are fans who think that this makes her more interesting. Word of God has even latched onto the latter
• Non Sequitur Scene: So far, Chinatsu force-kissing Akari has not been mentioned once after it had occurred, nor the fact that Kyoko and Yui saw it.
• The Woobie: Akari. She breaks down crying in the first episode, after her friends' attempts to reinvent her image only make her feel worse. From then on the show goes out of it's way to make sure she's either neglected or miserable.
