Unstoppable High Kick
"High Kick without Hesitation", "Unstoppable High Kick", or "Smooth High Kick" was a popular South Korean situation comedy revolving around the life of the Lee family, taking place in Seoul. The main characters are Lee Yoon Ho, a Delinquent Badass Biker known for his high kick and Lee Min Ho, who enjoys spending time on scale models and blogs, are brothers born a year apart but attending the same class at school. These two portray completely opposite Korean teenage characters in a comical way.
And of course, there’s the rest of the family, including:
- Their father, Jung Joon Ha, a full-time stock investor since being laid off from work, nevertheless optimistic and reckless;
- Their mother, Park Hae Mi, a doctor specializing in Oriental medicine and always overly confident;
- Their grandfather Lee Soon Jae, who loves money more than anything else in the world,
- Their grandmother Na Moon Hee, who is always defeated by her daughter-in-law in ongoing status quarrels.
- Their uncle, Lee Min Yong, is a 27-year-old single dad. After going through a premature marriage and early divorce, he enjoys his life back in the dating scene with his half-single and half-married status, while continuing to encounter emotionally-involved moments with his ex-wife, Shin Ji, at times.
High Kick! is a situation comedy, which portrays the everyday lives of the main characters colliding with each other in a comical way. However, at a certain point, the surprising mysteries of their seemingly normal surrounding characters begin to unravel one by one.
The English title of the show, "High Kick!", has several implications, one of which is the aforementioned oft-depicted high kicks of Yoon-ho.
- Ambiguously Gay: Kim Bum and Min Ho are either this or Ambiguously Bi.
- Amicably Divorced: Min Young and Shin Ji.
- Badass Family
- Butt Monkey: Everyone fills the role in different parts of the story.
- Cerebus Syndrome: The last five episodes are less comedic and more dramatic.
- Character Development: Most notably with the brothers. For instance, Yoon Ho starts as a Jerkass Screwy Squirrel to a bonefide Jerk with a Heart of Gold by the end of the story.
- The Danza: Most characters use their actor's/actress' real name (sans surnames) with three exceptions: Lee Min Ho (played by Kim Hye-sung), Lee Yoon Ho (played by Jung Il Woo) and Kang Yoo Mi (played by Park Min-young).
- Dawson Casting: Slightly subverted that the teens are being portrayed by actors/actreses who are in their late teens excpet for the 16 year old Hae Mi. Played straight by Yoo Mi though. In universe speaking.
- Dead Baby Comedy: Usually involving Soon Jae.
- Deadpan Snarker: Min Young, oh so much.
- Deconstruction: Done in a humorous way though.
- Dogged Nice Guy: Kim Bum to Yoo Mi, Detective Lee to Shin Ji, Nurse Park to Nurse Yoo, Yoon Ho to Min Jong, who herself is a gender-flip of this trope to Min Yong prior on hooking up with him.
- Dub Name Change
- Mr. Fanservice: Yoon Ho and Kim Bum notably.
- Even the Guys Want Him: Kim Bum. Lampshaded and toyed near the end of the series.
- Fake American: One episode features an American family. It is unknown what nationality the actors were and they were trying their hardest to sound American but it only resulted in a very odd dialect.
- Five-Man Band: The Lee males, complete with designated numbers.
- The Hero and Team Dad: Soon Jae (1)
- The Lancers: Joon Ha (2) and Min Yong (3)
- The Smart Guys: Min Yong (3) and Min Ho (4)
- The Big Guys: Joon Na (2) and Yoon Ho (5)
- Sixth Ranger: Kim Bum (6)
- Foe Yay: Min Yong and his sister-in-law Hye Mi.
- Generation Xerox: Joon Ha and his son Yoon Ho both Likes Older Women. Hae Mi is actually two years older than him, while Yoon Hi is Hot for Teacher Min Jong. And apparently, Min Ho as well, as Yoo Mi is actually three years older than him. Like Father Like Sons indeed.
- Kim Bum and his mother both have No Sense of Personal Space.
- Gentle Giant: Joon Na.
- The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry : Gender-flipped with Yoon Ho and Min Ho.
- Gratuitous English: A Running Gag in the series.
- Hello, Nurse!: The Tall, Dark and Bishoujo Nurse Yoo. Her Last-Episode New Character replacement (also TD&B) deserves to be mentioned.
- Hilarity Ensues: Too many instances to list.
- Hot for Teacher: Yoon Ho and Seung Hyun to their Hot Teacher Min Jong.
- Hot Teacher: The very Moe Min Jong. Min Yong subverts this as he's more of a Tall, Dark and Snarky Stern Teacher.
- Hot Mom: Hae Mi, Shin Ji, and both Yoo Mi and Kim Bum's mothers.
- Ho Yay: Min Ho and Kim Bum, Up to Eleven. Lampshaded many, many times during the show.
- The Klutz: Min Jong usually falls when she walks.
- Likes Older Women: Chan Sung likes Nurse Yoo. For the members of the Lee family, see Generation Xerox below.
- Loads and Loads of Characters: This show might need its own Character Sheet...
- Love Dodecahedron
- Love Hurts
- Love Triangle: Take your pic...
- Manic Pixie Dream Girl: Hye Mi to Yoon Ho. The latter is annoyed like hell because of this.
- Noblewoman's Laugh: Hae Mi most of the time.
- No Sense of Personal Space: Hae Mi always infiltrate Min Yong's personal life, much to her delightment and the latter's annoyment. Kim Bum and his mother also qualifies.
- Obfuscating Stupidity: Yoo Mi is not really that dumb as she appears to be. The reason she does this is because her father's a North Korean Double Agent who became a Reverse Mole of sorts and hides from his former team.
- Ordinary High School Student
- Plucky Girl: Every major female cast.
- Running Gag: Min Jong being The Klutz, Joon Na being jobless, Kim Bum for having No Sense of Personal Space and his Ho Yayish interactions with Min Ho, Soon Jae for his being The Neidermeyer, etc.
- Sensei-chan: Min Jong, oh so much.
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The brothers most notably.
- Ship Sinking: Min Joung and Min Yong via the former's I Want My Beloved to Be Happy reason. And according to Kim Bum, Min Yong and Shin Ji never really got back together.
- Yoo Mi and Min Ho are forced to break up because Yoo Mi was forced into hiding after her Parental Abandonment.
- Yoon Ho rejected Hye Mi, while the whole school listens.
- Yoon Ho is heartbroken after Mon Yong and Min Jong hooks up. Then again, the ending implies a Last-Minute Hookup between the two.
- Stern Teacher: Min Yong, thus earning the monicker "Mad Dog".
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo: Hye Mi and Nurse Yoo (both 170 cm). Also Yoo Mi, despite Hye Mi calling her "short" (FYI, Yoo Mi is 164 cm).
- Tall, Dark and Handsome: Yoon Ho and Kim Bum.
- Tall, Dark and Snarky: Min Yong, oh so much. Occasionally, Yoon Ho.
- Those Two Guys: Nurse Park and Nurse Yoo. Kim Bum and Chan Sung might be this to Min Ho and Yoon Ho respectively.
- Seung Hyun and Hwang Chan Sung, before the latter's Heel Face Turn and the former being Demoted to Extra.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: Shin Ji and Min Jong are an adult version of this trope.
- Two Guys and a Girl: Min Ho, Kim Bum and Yoo Mi fits the dynamic.

- Wacky Homeroom: Min Jong's class.
