  • Sam Weiss the Bowling Guy is the FRA inspector.
• Production Posse: Tony Scott and Denzel Washington had previously worked together on Crimson Tide, Man on Fire, Deja Vu and The Remake of The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3.
• Promoted Fangirl: Rosario Dawson has made mention of her Trekkie roots, and here she is assisting Captain Kirk in a rescue mission.
• Shout-Out: To Silver Streak - an AWVR official named Gene Devereaux is interviewed at one point. Gene Wilder starred in Silver Streak, and the villain was named Roger Devereaux.
• While there are Real Place Background spots in the movie where No Communities Were Harmed, they all have fake names to cover up their actual real-world locals. The only place in the movie that gets any semblance of realism is the mention of Horseshoe Curve (a railfan's wet dream in most cases) and the giant bridge / curve which is physically located in Bellaire, Ohio but in the movie gets a huge leap to Scranton, Pa (according to map, renamed to Stranton for the movie)
