Two Steps From Hell
An orchestral group known for composing music specifically for movie trailers, headed by Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix.
Unfortunately, they are only given to movie producers. Everyone else will have to get more...creative...
So far, they have released two commercial albums: Invincible and Archangel. Thomas has also released a solo album, Illusions.
Their music has been used in trailers for
- 2012
- Beowulf
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Inkheart
- Prince of Persia the Sands of Time
- Spider-Man 3
- Star Trek (specifically "Freedom Fighters")
- The Twilight Saga
- WALL-E
- Doctor Who Series 5 and 6
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
- WWE Night of Champions 2010 (the same song was later recycled as the theme song for Daniel Bryan)
- Game of Thrones ("Dark Harbor" in the "Iron Throne" trailer)
- Merlin trailer for The Sword in the Stone Part 1
- Mass Effect 2
- Mass Effect 3
Two Steps From Hell provides examples of the following tropes:
- The Jimmy Hart Version: Quite a few tracks sound a lot like famous movie scores, ranging from blink-and-you'll-miss-it references to downright plagiarism.
- They've ripped off Hans Zimmer's Pirates of the Caribbean scores not just once, but twice. Perhaps not surprising considering Thomas and Nick contributed additional music to the score of On Stranger Tides.
- Or how about their spin on the Superman theme?
- Here are some examples.
- Ominous Latin Chanting. All. The. Time.
- Villain Song: "He Who Brings The Night" could count.
