• Anime First: Anime -> Manga -> Second season. As a result, some ideas from the (considerably darker) manga end up in the second season.
  • The second season was then followed up by more Manga (unreleased in the US), with the purpose of tying up the manga continuity with the previously aired season.

  • In the English dub:
    • Colonel Gaust is Lord Zedd, Finster and Armadillomon as well as Wizardmon!
    • Roger Smith is Spike, and Walter
    • Angel is Faye
    • Alan Gabriel is the answering machine! (And Alucard)
    • Dorothy is Chisa Yomoda
    • Dan Dastun is Sabretooth
    • Beck is Gene
    • Schwarzwald is Emperor Charles Vi Britannia
    • In the second season, Norman is Skeletor.
  • In the original Japanese:

• No Export for You: The second season has seen no release in European territories, and probably never will since Beez Entertainment has closed down.
• Phoenix Wright looks similar to Roger Smith, except with a blue suit.
• Screwed by the Network: Despite that it was a popular show and the ratings of Adult Swim airings were the sole reason the series even got a second season in the first place, the premiere of the second season was around the same time Adult Swim began its Network Decay, and they ended up screwing up the airing of a couple episodes (including accidentally airing a repeat over the finale) and ended up canceling the show before a reportedly expected third season, despite it having paid off financially.
• Shout-Out: Many to Batman, as well as some memorably hilarious nods to older Super Robot shows in "The Greatest Villain", specifically Getter Robo with its Combining Mecha.
  • In the final seconds of the episode "Eyewitness", two intrepid reporters show up to interview Dastun. Notice how even Roger seems surprised!
  • Also, the practice of using "R." as an honorific for androids is a Shout-Out to R. Daneel Olivaw in The Caves of Steel, and some of Asimov's other robot stories. The "R" stands for "Robot," of course.
  • Norman's bikeplate is M*ASH.
  • In "Eyewitness," Angel's car is parked next to a pink version of the (Animated) Batmobile.
  • The specific choice of genetically-engineered tomatoes as Gordon Rosewater's metaphor for artifical humans likely stems from George H. Scithers' trope-naming use of the phrase Tomato Surprise.
• The Wiki Rule: The Big O Wiki
