• Fake Nationality: American-born Englishman Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. Possibly Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors. He's revealed to have some kind of accent in one trailer.
• Hey, It's That Guy!: Among others, Martin Sheen as Cool Old Guy role model Uncle Ben. Depending on which of his roles you're familiar with, this is either perfectly appropriate or hilariously warped. "Remember, Peter, with great power comes human dominance in - uh, wait a minute..."

• Mythology Gag: The Amazing Spider-Man is also the name of the long running Marvel Comics series starring the character, and the name of the short-lived 1970s live-action television series.
  • It was also the Working Title of Spider-Man 2.
• Shout-Out: Watch the first trailer and try to deny that the first person sequence of Spidey running along rooftops doesn't look like it belongs in Mirror's Edge.

• Shown Their Work: Van Adder isn't an original creation for the film, he's a very obscure Spider-Man villain called the Proto-Goblin. How obscure? The character's sole appearance was in an issue of Peter Parker: Spider-Man written in 1999, as someone Norman Osborn tested the Goblin Serum on before he used it himself.
• What Could Have Been: The script for Spider-Man 4 which caused Raimi to leave the series and Columbia Pictures opt to simply go for a Continuity Reboot rather than find a new director and cast to continue Raimi's story.
