Team Fortress Arcade
Team Fortress Arcade is a 2011 fan-made Videogame Demake of Team Fortress 2 created by Eric Ruth in the style of a classic arcade Beat'Em Up, complete with 16-bit graphics and up to 4-player Co-Op Multiplayer. All nine classes from Team Fortress 2 are playable, and there are nine side-scrolling stages, each featuring a different character from the opposing team as a boss, as well as a bonus tenth stage featuring a cameo appearance by a character from the fellow Valve franchise Portal as the Final Boss.
It can be downloaded for free here.
Tropes used in Team Fortress Arcade include:
- Attack Its Weak Point: The RED Sniper is never fought directly. Instead, the BLU team opts to destroy the supports for his sniping perch.
- Beat'Em Up
- Charge Attack: The Sniper's rifle. Uncharged shots are weak, but charged shots penetrate enemies and hit For Massive Damage.
- Final Boss: The giant robot from Portal, Cave Johnson, who attacks you with exploding lemons.
- Fragile Speedster: The Scout, with the fastest movement speed and the lowest HP.
- Gatling Good: The Heavy and his signature minigun, Sasha.
- Giant Space Flea From Nowhere: The final boss.
- Healing Shiv: The Medic's primary weapon is still the Medigun, used for healing your teammates. (It's not very good in the single-player mode.)
- Mecha-Mooks: The RED sentrymen that appear in each stage.
- The Medic: The Medic.
- Retraux: As is typical of demakes.
- Rocket Jump: Included for the Soldier. Pressing the attack button immediately after jumping triggers a rocket jump. Laying down sticky bombs with the Demoman and jumping over them as you set them off grant a similar effect.
- Secret AI Moves: When the computer controls them, enemies have special attacks. The Scout moves at super-speed with blur effects (much like his Bonk! Atomic Punch, though he still takes damage), the Soldier can fly into the air and rain rockets down at you, the Spy teleports instead of cloaking, the Heavy can eat his Sandvich to heal himself, etc.
- Throw Down the Bomblet: The Demoman, of course, with his trademark grenades and sticky bombs.
- Visible Invisibility: The Spy, who shows up as a white outline when cloaked.
- The Voice: The announcer from the original game, who appears here as well.
