Tropes used in Superstar K include:
- Mr. Fanservice: Seo In Gook, the winner of Season 1; John Park and Kang Seung Yoon from Season 2.
- Expy: Of American Idol.
- Also, both of the male judges are these of Simon Cowell to a degree; all the female judges have unfortunately been these of Paula Abdul.
- Invincible Hero: Ulala Session in Season 3.
- Manipulative Editing: Big time. In fact...
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: So much that one of the entries in Season 3 that made the top 10 did this because of it.
- My Greatest Second Chance: John Park, in a sense, since he managed to reach the top 20 in American Idol before making his way into Season 2 of this show.
- Also, Chris Golightly from Season 9 of American Idol happens to appear on Season 3.
- Shocking Elimination: The eliminations of Jang Jae In and Kim Ji Soo in Season 2.
- Trope Codifier: Of survival reality TV shows in Korea.
