- Bow Ties Are Cool
- Exposition Fairy
- Nice Hat
- Ultimate Authority Mayor: Do you see any city council? Voting booths? He even commands the police force, since it consists of only one guy, and it's his son.
- And Harris is next in line to become Mayor, too. Just as Mayor Thomas' father was Mayor before him!
Harris
The Mayor's only son, and the only cop in the entire town. Wears a uniform that looks like it was pilfered from a postal worker.
- Bow Ties Are Cool

- Nice Hat: UMA
- Troubled but Cute
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: "I'll get that old man to praise me, no matter what!"

He's a botanist who is Popuri's father in HM 64 and Maria's in (More) Friends of Mineral Town. In just about every version, he's a seasonal character - popping up during the spring and summer only to disappear again during the fall and winter.
- Happily Married: In (M)Fo MT
Rick
Popuri's older brother in (More) Friends of Mineral Town. The guy who runs the tool shop in Harvest Moon 64. He's a bit frazzled. He's overprotective of his sister and mother, and because of this, he doesn't get along with Kai. Karen is one of his oldest friends. While he seems a bit cold at first, he has a loving and extremely loyal heart.
- Big Brother Instinct
- Promoted to Love Interest: In HM 64, he was just the guy who ran the tool shop - not even a suitor for one of the girls. In Mineral Town, he becomes Karen's suitor or one of your Love Interests depending on which version you play.
- Promotion to Parent: His father is away, and his mother Lillia, is sickly, leaving him to take responsibility for Popuri and the farm.
- The Scrappy: Some players dislike him because he hates Kai, but he softens up a lot once he gets married, and even, eventually, is OK with his sister marrying him.
- Unlucky Childhood Friend: If Karen marries the player, he becomes one. If not, he becomes a...
- Unknown Rival: Kai is seemingly oblivious to how much Rick wants him to drop dead.

A bubbly, childish and friendly girl and younger sister of Rick in (More) Friends of Mineral Town, And the Daughter of Basil and Lillia in HM 64. In Fo MT Her father is currently away from Mineral Town, and her mother, Lillia is ill. Her older brother, Rick has taken responsibility for her, unfortunately for her, he can be over-protective.
- Adult Child
- Curtains Match the Window: One of the only cases, and rather bizarre, as it means her eyes are pink.

- Meaningful Name
- Rose-Haired Girl
- You Gotta Have Pink Hair
Gotz
In HM 64, he is Karen's father and is in charge of the winery. In (More) Friends of Mineral Town, he lives alone and is the local lumberjack.
- Gentle Giant: In (M)Fo MT only.
- Not Good with People: More so in (M)Fo MT, whereas on the N64, he's just a straight-up alcoholic Jerkass.
Sasha
In HM 64, she is Gotz's wife and helps out with the winery. In (More) Friends of Mineral Town, she becomes Jeff's wife and helps him out with the local grocery store. In both versions, she is Karen's mom.
Karen
The Beautiful, somewhat rude, daughter of the vineyard owners, Gotz and Sasha in HM 64, and the daughter of Jeff and Sasha, the general store owners, in (More) Friends of Mineral Town. She is close friends with Rick, and will marry him if the player doesn't. She loves drinking, and can often be found at the bar with Rick.
- Bottle Fairy
- Broken Bird
- Cool Big Sis
- Les Yay: With Popuri in the DS games. YMMV.
- Lethal Chef
- Ms. Fanservice: Just look at her.
- Multicolored Hair: Her bangs are decorated with blonde highlights. In SNES it was apparently natural, to signify she's Eve's grand-daughter, but they lack this bond in other games so it may be dyed.
- Tsundere
- Unlucky Childhood Friend: Both this and the next trope have the same rules applied to them in Karen's case as Rick's in (M)Fo MT
Ellen
Elli's grandmother.
Elli
Employed at the bakery in HM 64, and as the local nurse in Fo MT. Seems to have a budding not-quite-professional relationship with the doctor, but marries her surrogate father figure (Jeff) in 64.
- Expy: Of Ellen in the first game. Just like Popuri, she's her granddaughter in the source game, so it makes sense.
- Fetish Fuel Station Attendant
- Hospital Hottie: A rather odd case in the fact that she isn't designed to be sexy, and dresses like her grandmother, but she still manages to be a fan favorite.
- Promotion to Parent: For her little brother, in Mineral Town.
- Nice Girl: Smiling and giving gifts to others. very nice
Stu
Elli's younger brother in (M)Fo MT.

Popuri's suitor, who only comes down to the beach during the summer to sell food (in Back to Nature).
- Ambiguously Brown
- The Charmer: His Mineral Town incarnation
- Jerkass: His BTN incarnation is a bit of a smug dick
Cliff
A somewhat careworn young man who starts off slumming it at the church. He wanders aimlessly around, looking for something to do. He's very quiet, and reacts strongly to kindness. In your first year, you get the opportunity to offer "someone" a job. If you give it to him, he'll stay and become a winery-worker, with Manna and Duke becoming his surrogate family.
- Dead Little Sister: He has one. Well, had one. You know.

- The Woobie
Doctor
The resident doctor of the village.
- Dark and Troubled Past: His parents were both full-time medical workers, which resulted in his being neglected for most of his childhood. He rebelled against them at one point, but grows to resent it because of his understanding of how demanding being a doctor is.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": For the most part, he is referred to only as "Doctor", although he is once called Tim in Back to Nature, and his DS incarnation is given the name Trent.
- Hospital Hottie
- I Can't Believe A Girl Like You Would Notice Me: Pretty much said word-for-word if you choose to propose to him.
- Not So Stoic: His dark and brooding image certainly started to crack when he begged the player to help him try to catch fish with his bare hands in the girl version of Back To Nature.
- Workaholic
May
A young girl who lives in the village. In (M)Fo MT, she is Barley's granddaughter.
- Girlish Pigtails
- Parental Abandonment: She was left with her grandfather by her mother for reasons unknown.
- The Woobie: Sometimes, especially where her missing mother is concerned.
May: When I talk to Grandpa about Mom he grows all quiet. When I see Grandpa looking sad or angry, it makes me want to cry. Then Grandpa tells me I'm a good girl.
Kappa
A kappa. One of the possible marriage candidates in M Fo MT. Lives in a lake, and likes cucumbers. Is there really anything else you need to know?
- Interspecies Romance
- Trademark Favorite Food: Cucumbers.
The Gourmet
A... wait, what on earth is he supposed to be, anyway? Well, whatever he is, he shows up for most festivals that involve crops or especially food. For whatever reason, he's also a marriage candidate, albeit a particularly difficult one, in MFoMT.
Zack
He lives on the beach with Won and comes to your house to ship things and give you packages. Lillia's husband brought him to Mineral Town.
- Gratuitous Japanese: That's probably an accident.
- Ho Yay: With Won. I mean, there's only one bed and they share the house...
- Stalker with a Crush: He has tons of pictures of Lillia posted above his bed.

A colorful salesman with a stereotypical Oriental appearance.

- Traveling Salesman
