Space Channel 5/Trivia

• Descended Creator: Takashi Thomas Yuda and Ken Okazaki, who voiced Fuse and Noize respectively in the Japanese version, are part of the creative staff for both games. Yuda works in animation and Okazaki contributed to the character design department.
• Hey, It's That Guy!: Reporter Ulala is very recognizable for her pink pigtails and orange retro outfit, but hardly anyone knows her name/what game she's from.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: Purge plays as a certain yellow scarf bearing character in Persona 3.
  • He's also the master of illusion in a group of villains with mysterious powers.
  • And in America, he's...Eric from Power Rangers Time Force?!
    • Not quite. Purge's English voice actor does Earthworm Jim in Earthworm Jim 3D.
  • And Space Michael is quite literally Michael Jackson. He even looks like Michael Jackson!!
  • Jaguar is voiced by Show Hayami in the Japanese version.
  • Well, whaddaya know, Chief Blank is Colonel Volgin!
  • Most of the Space Channel 5 Part 2 English voice actors voice characters in Driver San Francisco.
• No Export for You: Pine's cell phone game was only available in Japan.
• The Other Darrin: In the English version of Part 2, all of the returning characters except Ulala (and Space Michael) have different voice actors.
  • Flashback with the Other Darrin: The intro of Part 2 shows several scenes from the first game. The voiceovers for these scenes have been redone by the Part 2 voice cast.
• Playing Against Type: Jaguar's Japanese voice actor usually does characters that are evil.
• Promoted Fanboy: Michael Jackson loved video games and had worked with SEGA in the past; after a SEGA exec showed him a build of their upcoming rhythm game Space Channel 5, he was so enthusiastic about the project, he wanted to be a part of it. Although the game's near-finished state limited him to just a couple of lines, he had a much larger participation in its sequel.
  • What Could Have Been: The Michael Jackson part actually had been programmed into the game (with five aliens instead of four and a hypnotised Michael), but because of the above, it was easy to just Throw It In and have them rescue Space Michael.
• What Could Have Been: Ulala was meant to have a cameo in Bayonetta, but legal issues came up that prevented her inclusion.
  • Information from UGA's official site and an unused animation reveal that Blank was going to return in Part 2 with an army of Evila robots, but they scrapped it in favour of introducing a new villain into the series.
