"I haven't had an orthodox career, and I've wanted more than anything to have your respect. The first time I didn't feel it, but this time I feel it, and I can't deny the fact that you like me, right now, you like me!"

Sally Field, accepting the Best Actress Oscar for Places in the Heart

Sally Field (born Sally Margaret Field, November 6, 1946) is an actress that everybody's seen on film or TV but nobody remembers for her acting.

Her eponymous role in Norma Rae earned her Best Actress awards from the Cannes Film Festival, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, the National Board of Review, the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, and the National Society of Film Critics Awards... oh, and some award called an "Oscar".

Sally Field took home a second Best Actress Oscar for her role in Places in the Heart. This is where everybody remembers her from - not from playing Edna Spalding in the movie, but from her acceptance speech. And everybody misquotes her, too.

On the other hand, there are her roles in The Flying Nun, The Girl with Something Extra, and Beyond the Poseidon Adventure, showing that even an Oscar-worthy actress needs to eat.
