Purity Sue/Playing With
Basic Trope: An incorruptibly pure Mary Sue.
- Straight: Goody Tushoes transfers to the heroes' High School and wins them over through her purity and grace.
- Exaggerated: Goody is so good and pure that one bat of an eyelash reduces Big Bad Grace Downburn into her willing slave.
- Justified: Her idealism is something new in her cynical and depressed High School which makes it easier for others to be friends with her.
- She's a goddess.
- In a setting with deities for most aspects of the world, she is specifically the goddess of purity.
- She's a goddess.
- Inverted: Goody's pureness is exactly why no one likes her.
- Alternatively, Goody is a Good Bad Girl, and everyone loves her for it.
- Complete Monster
- Anti-Sue / Jerk Sue / Villain Sue
- Subverted: Goody seems nice, but she's really one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and she's plotting to unleash Hell shortly.
- Double Subverted: ...except that she has second thoughts and uses her purity and grace to convince Satan himself to hold off the apocalypse indefinitely.
- Parodied: Goody Tushoes is so nice that she can make it stop raining by her pleas.
- Deconstructed: Goody is a nice girl, but she's only like that because of her parents' divorce, misattributed guilt for her sister's suicide, and her abuse at the hands of a Sadist Teacher named Mr. Lucifer. The pressure becomes so much that she's Driven to Suicide.
- Alternatively, due to demanding parents and abysmal self-esteem, Goody fools everyone into thinking she's completely perfect through sheer force of will. This, however, comes at great personal cost and leaves her dead inside...
- Another alternative: Her naïveté makes it extremely easy for the villains to manipulate her, and she ends up doing something terrible as a result.
- Reconstructed: But she doesn't go through with it because she made a vow to not let others suffer the downside of life. Hence, the current Purity Sue we have today.
- ...but she still appears perfect, so no one's any the wiser.
- Zig Zagged: Goody is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and is planning on unleashing hell. However, she has second thoughts, and tries to use her purity and grace to convince Satan to hold off the apocalypse indefinitely. It backfires, and the heroes have to save the day. (With her help, of course.)
- Averted: Goody is a realistic character with flaws like everyone else and is not incorruptibly pure.
- Enforced: Anyone who's less than fond of Goody is envious, and ends up being either demonized or won over by her.
- Exploited: Goody's "friend" Alice uses Goody's reputation to her benefit.
- Lampshaded:
- "You know, Goody, you're beginning to scare me. Seriously, do you do anything wrong, even once?"
- "You may be a bad as a character, but you're great as a person."
- Invoked: Goody is originally an ordinary girl, but decides that she likes the image, and takes steps to present it to others as herself.
- Defied: The heroes are immediately suspicious of Goody's immediate and overwhelming popularity, and suspect foul play.
- Alternatively, Goody wants to demonstrate to the other characters that humans have flaws, so she tries to make a mistake every once in a while.
- Discussed: "Does anyone find it just a bit weird that that girl Goody has been here for about 2 hours and Everybody loves her?"
- Conversed: "Oh, that Goody Tushoes! She's such a good girl."
