Predators/YMMV
- Complete Monster: Berserker, leader of the Black Predators.
- One of the most refreshing details about this movie is that it's the first time we see truly evil predators. In the previous films, the predators were always, at worst, jerkass blood-knights whose only fault is that they enjoy their hunt a little more than necessary. Despite that fault, those predators still followed their Code of Honor. Many of the deaths they caused might have been painful, but at least they were always brief, if not instant. The 2nd movie's predator was arguably the most empathetic of the entire series, sparing the life of a female officer because she was pregnant Their honorability gave audiences a reason to consider rooting for them instead of the humans, or at least feel sad for them when they die....But in this movie, the Black Predators are FAR worse. They're cruel and sadistic, showing no displays of mercy. 90% of the human deaths are agonizingly slow and painful, and they enjoy deliberately scaring their "prey" before killing it...And when Berserker sees that the Classic predator has been set free, instead of simply subduing him and rechaining him to the pillar, Berserker fights Classic to the death, apparently just so he can humiliate Classic before killing him. Shortly after the fight, Berserker finds Edwin lying on the ground, wounded, helpless and begging for help/mercy, but instead of granting either of those things, Berserker just adds another wound onto him, making his slow death even more painful than it already was. Simply put, Berseker and his buddies successfully made this movie Darker and Edgier than either of the first two films.
- Even though none of the main characters are particularly nice (except Isabelle), there's one in particular who stands out as monstrous:
- Edwin. If you've seen the film, you don't need to hear it explained why.
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Hanzo, who is the most quiet of the group and the least focused on. Beating a Predator one-on-one with a katana will have that effect.
- Fridge Brilliance: The presence of the Black Predators. We know that the Predators are divided into Clans who are united by shared rules of combat, with the Classic ones who have been thus far depicted in the movies and Expanded Universe. So what happens to those who reject that philosophy? Is it possible that the Black Predators are the Stans and Edwins of their culture, who were sent to the planet as game, but managed to overpower the Classic ones sent to hunt them?
- Like You Would Really Do It: Royce, who constantly looks for an excuse to leave the group or work on his own, apparently gets on the Predator ship charted to bring him back to Earth, but he literally jumps ship to get Isabella and the doctor -- just in time to rescue the former from the latter.
- Memetic Mutation - Edwin's "bitch raping time" is a minor meme on the internet.
- Narm: The appearance of the Black Predator's face. He looked kind of ridiculous. The roaring couldn't hide this fact.
- It was the eyes; they were a little too far apart.
- Role Association: Eric Forman, Jack Driscoll, Morpheus, Cletus Van Damme, that girl from I Am Legend, and Machete all fight the Predators!
