Characters from Pokémon Go include:
Professor Willow
Professor Willow is a very outdoorsy scientist and the leader of a research team.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Like Professor Holly, Professor Willow addresses the gamer to give a basic tutorial and tips.
- Labcoat of Science and Medicine: And the Professor always wears it.
- Like Father, Like Son: His dad loves the outdoors, his son, likes to do research outside only using his van to as a mini-lab.
- The Knights Who Say Squee: Professor Willow idolizes Professor Oak, since he was one of the many assistants and students that were taught by Samuel Oak.

Willow's Assistants
Candela, Blanche, and Spark are the young yet idealistic assistants of Professor Willow and leaders of Team Valor/Team Red, Team Mystic/Team Blue, and Team Instinct/Team Yellow respectively, they help him and their recruits to research and defend Pokemon.
- Friendly Rivals: The assistants have a friendly relationship towards each other.
- It's to the point that fans portray both Candela and Blanche butting their heads together competitively.
Candela
The passionate yet illustrious leader of Team Valor, her Pokemon research focuses on true strength.
- Bare-Fisted Monk: Some of Candela's Pokemons are fighting types, like Combusken and Magmortar.
- Blow You Away: Due to Moltres and Salamance's extra typing.
- Leeroy Jenkins: Some of the ways Candela solves problems is barging first into battle.
- Our Dragons Are Different: In the Master Leagues, she uses a Salamence.
- Dishing Out Dirt: Her Magcargo brings out the rocks.
- Playing With Fire: Most things about Candela are this, like her main Pokemons (i.e. Flareon, Moltres, and Entei).
- Shock and Awe: One of her beloved Legendaries is a Raikou.
Spark
The only man in Professor Willow's group of assistants, Spark, who is Team Instinct's leader and wants to unlock the secrets to Pokemon's intuition and its connection with hatching.

Blanche

- An Ice Pokemon: Most of Blanche's team, consists mostly ice types, like Articuno, Sealeo, and Empoleon.
- Bifauxnen: Blanche.
- It's to the point that during PoGo's early days, IRL Poketrainers mistaken her for a dude.
- Blow You Away: Articuno is also a flying type.
- Dark Is Not Evil: One of her pokemon for the Great League training battles is a Sneasel.
- Dishing Out Dirt: Due to Mamoswine being in the group.
- Making a Splash: Both Sealeo and Suicune's typings are rather wet.
- Psychic Powers|Extra Ore Dinary: Mainly of Blanche's Metagross.
PokéTrainer
The new recruit and student of Professor Willow and his three assistants.
- A Boy and His X: Thanks to the buddy system updates, the Poketrainer and his mon can form a friendship bond with each other.
- The Mon can sometimes be seen in the overview map walking alongside its trainer.

- Character Customization: The start of the game has little customization that a player can do, like choosing skin color, clothes, and hair.
- Highly-Conspicuous Uniform: In a mild form of Rooting for the Empire, IRL Pokétrainer can dress their avatars in the uniforms of evil teams, like Team Aqua and Team Magma.

Team Go Rocket
They are a terrorist organization, led by Giovanni, that seeks to use Pokemon for evil means, even if it means injuring and experimenting on them.
- Evil Counterpart: To Professor Willow and his fellow scientists.
- Explaining Your Power to the Enemy: Team Go Rocket gives out hints of what their Pokemon team's typings are, this will give the player a clue to defeat them.

Giovanni
Giovanni is the big magikarp of all of Team Rocket.

Leader Arlo
A former friend of Candela's and member of Team Valor, Arlo is now one of Team Go Rocket's Leaders.

- Multicoloured Hair: Arlo got some hair dying tips from Curella Di Vil, one half black, one half red.
- Our Dragons Are Different: He has a Bagon, Dragonite, and Salamence in his team.
- Playing With Fire: From the only fire-type in his group, Charizard.
- Purely Aesthetic Glasses: His goggles that he wears are these.
Leader Sierra

- Dark Is Not Evil: An Absol, Shiftry, and Cacturne are part of her team.
- Graceful Ladies Like Purple: Despite that her spandex is mostly white with some violet trimmings here and there. Sierra is very graceful and feminine, even though she's just as capable of kicking your butt.
- Making a Splash|An Ice Pokemon: Her Lapras is a force to be reckon with, with it freezing or making waves.

- Affably Evil: When the IRL Poketrainer encounters Cliff in person, he carries himself with a sophisticated air.

- Non-Elemental: Marowak and Stantler are the only normal ones in the group.

Go Rocket Grunts
These grunts are at the bottom and are usually getting bossed around by the likes of Giovanni and the Team Leaders. They're easier for the IRL Pokemon trainer to defeat though.
