Pogo (music) provides examples of the following tropes:
- Banned In the US: Not his music, but Pogo himself, due to certain events. However, there is a chance for the ban to be lifted.
- Bishonen: ...yeah, actually.
- Everything Is an Instrument
- Executive Meddling: Currently being essentially held hostage by Disney- any Disney-related remixes have to be commissioned by them, or they'll sue him. This is the main reason his Pirates of the Caribbean remix, "Swashbuckle", will never see the light of day.
- It Will Never Catch On: Nick was reluctant to upload his track "Gardyn" to YouTube, since people would find it a little... unnerving to see him stray away from his original form. However, it gained a lot of praise, and it even became one of the top 25 videos of YouTube Play 2010.
- Self-Deprecation: He has a video where he showcases (and mocks) tracks he made when he was younger, most of which he doesn't like. Here.
- Signature Song: "Alice"
- Word Salad Lyrics: Nearly all of his songs. "Buzzwing" is a notable example:
In my bathtub, in a dark pose
Great idea (loserface)
Great, I got a dark pose
Buzz!
- Also "Mellow Brick Road," which has clearer lyrics than most of his other songs.
- However, any semblance of meaning in the "lyrics" of his works is illusory, being as he generally selects word and syllable samples for their pitch and length, not their content -- they're notes for/by an instrument, not words, in almost all of his work.
- X Meets Y: Todd Edwards meets either Nujabes, Owl City, or both.
