Over the Gun/YMMV
This YMMV page contains the opinions and views of the Lets Player Over the Gun and his fanbase. Hence, Your Mileage May Vary from his mileage, and the mileage of his fans...maybe...in your case...concerning the mileage.
- Accidental Innuendo: Happens in RE 3, Nemesis, after getting away from the huge worm... thing and claiming he did it because of his 'Master Baiting' skills. However, this time, he slips up and it soundsl ike something else... This is, of course, immediately lampshaded by himself as he KNEW it would only be a matter of time before said slip up occurred.
- Archive Binge: Over 2400 videos on YouTube, and that's not even counting his Justin TV, unedited recorded streams.
- Critical Backlash: Thoroughly enjoyed the reboot of Syndicate, despite the lukewarm reviews its gotten. He never mentioned the original series, though, and judged the game purely on its own as an FPS.
- Ear Worm: He's just as easily affected as any of us. Shows out the most in Mega Man 4. Even when he's at the peak of his Rage Quit, you can still hear him grunting Dive Man's theme in frustration. (First set stinger)
- Fan Nickname: To note:
- Amnesia the Dark Descent: The monster is called "Beardmouth"
- Braid: The basic Mooks are called "Stylish Goombas", plants are called "Pirahna Plants" and then there is the inconsistently named "Flower-bunny-rabbit-cat".
- First Encounter Assault Recon: He sometimes insults Beckett with "Bucket", like an NPC did early in the game. Also creates a term for the imaginary character that blocks doors: Fear Guy.
- Due to not having access to the cutscenes and thus being locked out of the story: the protagonist "Painkiller Dave".
- In Serious Sam:
KleerQueer skeletons.- Electric Baracuda.
- Face Meat.
- The XL 2 Lasergun, AKA "X-wing Gun"
- Silent Hill 2: While playing the completely awful PC port, Over the Gun ran into numerous glitches. A recurring one was the sound looping in cutscenes glitch. Over the Gun dubbed these glitches "MC Konami's remixes"
- Silent Hill 4: Upon encountering the Patient enemies in the hospital for the first time, Over the Gun exclaimed "Is that a woman or a dude?". Eventually they became known as "Woodes".
- Splatterhouse: Called "Jason" during the original HTSF, rectified to Rick in the sequel.
- Super Mario Brothers: Bullet Williams.
- The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past: He calls Bunny Link "Plink"
- Harsher in Hindsight: His fake hacking of his channel already went out of hand real fast. About a year later, his website got hacked. It Got Better though.
- Hilarity Ensues: He has done a playthrough of Typing Of The Dead here. 'Nuff said.
- Hype Backlash: Although he respects the original Super Mario Brothers for its innovation, he still thinks the controls are far too loose. He also had a minor Rage Quit when testing out The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion when finding out about the leveling up system.
- Most Wonderful Sound: Halo: Reach: AGAIN! Specifically the penultimate...ah...word.
- Nightmare Retardant: Watching him play a game tends to take most of the fear away. See Fearless Fool above.
- Never Live It Down: Everytime he sees rope, he will always remember Barry's betrayal.
- The Scrappy:
- Louis from Left 4 Dead, due to his Artificial Stupidity at the Death Toll campaign finale. To the point where Lliam goes out of his way to kill him pre-emptively in the safe house and refuses to rescue him on the way to the last battle. When the bots do eventually rescue him, Lliam begins to gun down Louis and even continues to do so while his entire team is being attacked by a horde.
- Ray The
Flying SquirrelYellow Motherfucker, for not knowing what species he is in the beginning and his "shit-eating grin" from SegaSonic The Hedgehog.
- So Okay It's Average: Dead Space goes here (although to be fair he did play it on Normal) which stands out because generally he regards most of the games he records as So Cool Its Awesome. At best Sonic the Hedgehog games go here as well. And yes, he means the original 2-D ones.
- Surprise Difficulty: When he played Serious Sam.
Overthegun: "This should have been easy!"
- That One Boss: See Arch Enemy on the main page.
- That One Level: Like That One Boss, there are quite a few. World 4 of Braid, Block 3-3 of Super Castlevania IV and Stage 6-2 from Metal Storm stand out.
- In the Minecraft set, he gets lost in a maze-like cavern for about 20 minutes, slowly losing his sanity, and ends up dubbing the place "Caverns of Despair".
- 7-20 4 Letter Word. This one level was so hard that not only did he spend rougly 1 hour on it, OTG got so depressed due to his constant failing that he claims to have seen a white light..
- OTG himself considers it to be his number one nemesis.
Overthegun: "It's that fuckin' TV Tropes page. And it's got all the real fuckin' nemesi... of, uhm, HTSF. This stage... is number one. Seriously, it's number one!"
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks: Affectionately parodied in this video, concerning the change of YouTube channel layout.
- Too Good to Last: He never got to finishing his Let's Play of Chrono Trigger, Prototype, and Secret of Mana. Which is a shame considering the games' quality. (He mentioned that if he ever wanted to play those again, it would be a new run through and not a continuation.)
- And now, shortly after starting a second run of Chrono Trigger, he's announced that it won't be finished either.
- Tough Act to Follow: Since he was the first person to upload Still Alive on Youtube, needless to say his other videos will probably be doomed to being his less viewed videos.
- Values Dissonance: In HTSF @ Syndicate (2012) E1P2, he notes how mechanics which were considered cheats and illegal hacks in First-Person Shooter games years ago are now considered features or even standards in recent days.
