Nasuverse
Evangel Notes: Requiem for a World, by AlfheimWanderer
- Recommended by: Comartemis, Steve the Corn Muffin
- Status: Ongoing
- Synopsis: Second Impact didn't just cut the world's population in half, it also killed the World's ability to support life. Fifteen years later, Earth is dying and her children are fighting with tooth and nail not to die with her; the planet is tearing itself apart in its death throes, the atmosphere is flooded with "True Ether", a substance that is violently toxic to anyone born before Second Impact, birth rates are next to nothing and crops refuse to grow outside of specially-made agricultural geofronts. But things are about to take a turn for the worse, for even as the Angels begin to awaken from their aeons-long slumber in the watery depths, the last gasps of the dying world have reached the Aristoteles, vast and alien powers drifting in the void of space—beings without rules, without minds, without the concept of death itself, who come in response to Earth's last wish—that humanity, which slew her, might follow her into oblivion.

Revolutionary Girl Utena
Shin Kakumei Evangelion/Neon Revolutionary Evangelion by Ashnod
- Recommended by: anthiens
- Status: Complete
- Synopsis: A cross-over between EVA and Revolutionary Girl Utena, it changes things so that each universe fits in the other. Miki and Shinji are good friends, Juri's one-sided crush is Asuka, etc. The writing is excellent and the changes make very good sense. It's a retelling from where Utena, rather than Shinji, has arrived at Tokyo-3 and Ohtori has been moved to the Geo-Front where all the Pilots go to school and learn fencing from Juri, where certain events ensue. Contrast with Hilarity Ensues.

Thousand Shinji by Academia Nut
- Recommended by: Earth Scorpion
- Status: Complete
- Synopsis: It's a common idea in NGE fanfiction for Shinji to be raised by someone different. It's rather less common for that parent-figure to be a time-displaced Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons Legion. A far more ruthless, calculating Shinji has come to Tokyo-3, and as the battle of wits between him and his father threatens to shake the city apart in the face of Armageddon, dark forces begin to manipulate events from behind the scenes. Can Shinji trust his new allies, or is he simply a pawn in a far larger game?

Evangelion: Rapture [dead link]
by Lara Bartram (also found, with better formatting, here)
- Recommended by: Mythic Fox
- Status: Complete
- Synopsis: Following End of Evangelion's goo-ification of humanity, everyone's souls have come together to form a shared world based on what came before. But some of the people who were part of Third Impact, like most of the NERV crew, have begun reconstituting themselves out of the sea of LCL through sheer force of will and use scavenged equipment to free others. But the only one who can drive off the remaining Angels meant to finish off humanity once and for all is the boy who started Third Impact, Shinji Ikari.
- Where The Matrix has humanity trapped in a virtual world maintained by the machines, Evangelion: Rapture has humanity trapped in a world formed by the collective consciousness of the people who got melted into LCL. Shinji takes on the story's role of Neo to fight against the Angels—particularly Tabris—who serve the role of Agents. The story, written before Reloaded and Revolutions, unintentionally predicts one of Reloaded's later plot twists.
Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Evangelion, by Latw PIAT (discussion thread)
- Recommended by: Earth Scorpion
- Status: Ongoing
- Synopsis: An exceptionally well thought-out crossover, blending Evangelion with the gritty post-cyberpunk world of Ghost in the Shell. The author obviously knows his stuff, and has very skilfully performed a mythology transplant, cutting out the Judaeo-Christian Angels for Sumerian mythology, not to mention the fact that this Rei rather likes technology. Plus, it has Tachikomas, and Misato and the Major interacting. This is post-cyberpunk, pragmatic politicing, with only a slight tendency towards Technology Porn. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, after all.

Ascension by amitakartok
- Recommended by: Albions Angel
- Status: Ongoing
- Synopsis: 23 years after the Combine is expelled from Earth, the Angels attack... and get a VERY nasty surprise in the form of one Kamina-esque Kaworu and one badass Rei. Essentially Evangelion as a sequel to Half-Life and implanted into a hard sci-fi space opera setting.
- One-shot omake The present introduces Rei's new character.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Neon Toppa EVA Lagann by The Qing.
- Recommended by Sithking Zero
- Status: Dormant
- Synopsis: "Just as the battle with the 14th Angel takes a turn for the worst, a mysterious red robot covered with drills crashes in from the heavens; changing the course of the fight and the EVA universe forever. Evangelion/Gurren Lagann crossover."
- Comments: Even though there's only three chapters so far, it's simply amazing. I find that the best part of this is, naturally, Kamina, but not for the usual reasons. Rather, Kamina is an amazingly hard character to write for, and The Qing manages to not only capture him perfectly, but keep everyone else in character too. And trust me on this one, when the most Hot-Blooded character in all of anime meets the biggest wimp in all of anime, things get NUTS. Hasn't been updated for over a year, so may be a Dead Fic, but still worth a read.
DC and Marvel
The Superwomen of Eva Series, by Mike313 and orionpax09 (with canon submissions by The Rei-Fan and Archdruid-Sephiroth).
- Recommended by: Ultra Sonic 007
- Status: Ongoing
- Synopsis: Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Each of the female protagonists of Evangelion (Misato, Asuka, Rei, Ritsuko, Hikari, Mana, Mayumi, Mari...even Yui, Kyoko, and Naoko) become a superhero from the DC and Marvel universes. Cue Took a Level in Badass, It Got Worse, and Fetish Fuel. Oh, and Hilarity Ensues. Series 1 is explicitly Marvel (which is almost-all orionpax09), whereas Series 2 (which is mostly handled by Mike313) is strictly DC. Some of the more prominent stories are:
- Superwomen of Eva: Spirit—Hikari Horaki: The only story where the main character's powers aren't directly based off of those of a preexisting superhero, but the powers are staples. Hikari as 'Spirit' features the most in the other Marvel-universe stories, and is one of the first stories of the series.
- Superwomen of Eva: Emerald Fury—Misato Katsuragi: The She-Hulk. Big, green, and mean. Mixture of Angst and Crazy Awesome.
- Superwomen of Eva: The 4th Degree—Maya Ibuki: The Fantastic Four (yes, all of them at once). Notable for the relatively long build-up compared to the other stories, and how much trouble these powers bring for Maya.
- Superwomen of Eva: Treacherous Web—Ritsuko Akagi: Spider-Man (plus more). A textbook example of Nice Job Breaking It, Hero. Within the first three chapters, Ritsuko kills Gendo. SEELE's reponse: replace Gendo with Harry Osbourne. Wilson Fisk comes along as SEELE's liaison. Also, Ritsuko fights Deadpool. Hilarity Ensues, with a side of Kick the Dog.
- Superwomen of Eva 2: Lone Heir of Krypton—Asuka Langley Soryu: Power Girl. How exactly Asuka got Kryptonian genes is cleverly handled and gotten out of the way very quickly. Cue powers blooming. Also, Brainiac appears.
- Superwomen of Eva 2: Amazing Amazon—Rei Ayanami: Wonder Woman. The Greek Pantheon, worrying about Third Impact killing off all of their followers (and therefore themselves), call for a new mortal champion. The choice of Rei, however, doesn't exactly go over too well. Also, in the spirit of the gods of the Greek mythology, there is plenty of backstabbing and double dealing.
Last Child of Krypton by Chuckman
- Recommended by: Duder Skanks
- Status: Complete
- Synopsis: A different Shinji Ikari arrived at Tokyo 3. One calm, well-adjusted, reassured, and... wearing glasses?!? And who's that mysterious caped individual flying around fighting Angels? Seele and the Angels might not be the only things to worry about this time...
- Now has a rewrite in progress, with a few minor changes so far.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Valkyrie by Chuckman
- Recommended by: Marusaia
- Status: Ongoing
- Synopsis: Starring Asuka Soryu von Doom, Hikari Horaki, the Amazing Spider-Girl, Mari Potts-Stark, the Invincible Iron Maiden, and featuring Shinji Ikari, Master of Magnetism. The Angels are still descending on Earth, Seele still plots Instrumentality in the shadows, but something is different in this world. This will not go as easily for the characters as "Last Child of Krypton" did, but this troper expects it to be even better. Also expect a love octagon, as per Marvel Universe standards, and no set pairings.
Misfile
Evangelion Misfile by Kraven Ergeist
- Recommended by: Cryptic Mirror
- Status: Dormant
- Synopsis: Fusion with Misfile with the premise from it taking place in the Eva-verse. The parts of Ash, Emily and Rumisiel are played by Shinji, Misato, and Kwarou.
Dragon Ball
Eva Possibilities and Fusion Pandemonium, by Xed Alpha (Link)
- Recommended by: DKN 117
- Status: Ongoing
- Synopsis: Around a year after Majin Buu's defeat, Goten & Trunks try to repeat the act of ripping a hole in dimensions that Gotenks did in his fight against Buu. However, they screw it up, and get spat out into the Evangelion 'verse just as the fight between Unit-01 and the 3rd Angel comes to its violent end. With Goku & Vegeta following after them, Tokyo-3 must prepare for the arrival of the Saiyans.
- The story is currently undergoing a rewrite—ostensibly, the author wants to correct much of the grammar and make it more readable. The new link is up, replacing the defunct old one—so far, Chapters 1-6 have been put back up, and the story is located in the Evangelion section of Fanfiction.Net.
Blue Drop
The Pilot of Flight 403 by Bob BQ
- Recommended by: Willbyr
- Status: Ongoing
- Synopses:
- From the author: For one disgraced pilot, the collision of worlds brings a second chance. For one embittered soldier, it brings a new hope. For one scarred arms dealer, it brings a full workload.
- From the recommender: In the years after Third Impact, as the Arume invade the layer which contains the Earth of NGE, political alliances form, shift, and crumble; warfare and bloodshed are the theme of the times; technology that could shift the balance of power forever to whoever obtains it is a constant threat; and a ragtag group of arms dealers, led by a certain universe-displaced gun nut, work to make sure that that technology is never unearthed.

- Status: Dead
- Synopsis: A crossover with Good Omens and Death Note, with references to a LOT of other series from Spiderman to Ocean's 11... Original Flavor for Good Omens. Rife with Shout Outs, absolutely hilarious, full of meta-humor, and the author shows signs of being One of Us.
Sic Semper Morituri by Daniel Jess Wilson
- Recommended by: User:Looney Toons
- Status: Ongoing
- Synopsis: Another take on the H.P. Lovecraft fusion, only from a different angle and with Time Travel and a few extra crossover elements -- Ranma ½, Ah! My Goddess—to leaven the mix. Oh, and it's set immediately after World War Two in a very Alternate Universe. Incomplete but far from abandoned—the latest installment in this setting came out in late Spring 2009. The authors seem to be running two parallel storylines at the moment: the "main" one, and an extensive exploration of Asuka and Jeff's time trapped in the version of Nerima from which their amnesiac Ranma came, which itself turns out to be a Mega Crossover world incorporating (at the very least) Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo!, Cardcaptor Sakura and Urusei Yatsura. (Although the latter two appear relegated entirely to "off-screen" appearances.)
- Poke-Walk is a "sequel" to this taking the original character from Sic Semper Morituri after he sacrifices himself to save the universe. He has problems when people he needs to trust look just like and have the same name as people who betrayed him horribly.
Shinji Ikari VS The World by Epic Otaku
- Recommended by: Snow Globe Heroes
- Status: Ongoing
- Synopsis: A loose re-telling of Evangelion, where Shinji Ikari has to fight Rei's league of evil angelic ex-boyfriends. So far has characters from FLCL, Gurren Lagann, Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt. The fic also adds in the video game like setting from Scott Pilgrim. It still keeps some of the darker themes of NGE, but still has lighthearted and funny moments.
Imperial Eva by The Tower
- Recommended by: Zagreus

- Synopsis: Double crossover with The Dark Tower and Star Wars. In a complicated plan to resurrect the Crimson King, the Man in Black uses Leliel's Dirac Sea to send Shinji and Unit 01 to Hoth during the attack on the Rebel base there. Leliel doesn't take too kindly to this, and transports the Rebel ship Occulous to Tokyo-3 in defiance. Shinji is adopted by Darth Vader as his new apprentice, while NERV attempts to deal with a ship of honest-to-God aliens landing in their city. And that's just the beginning.

Blackmail Simon the Digger, Roger Smith, Bit Cloud, Van of Fanelia, and Shinji Ikari to join forces and fight them! This was either an awesome or a really bad idea!" The setting is NGE! Earth (with a LOT of modifications), since the Second Impact still occurred and Shinji is the protagonist.
