My Immortal/Trivia
- Creator Breakdown: The spelling mistakes get more frequent and more blatant as the story goes on. This could be because she threatens to slit her wrists every time someone flames her story. Speaking of which, her author's notes between chapters become increasingly angry and incoherent at time goes on... The effects of blood loss?
- Word of God: Authors' notes pop up in most chapters, mostly to criticize reviewers as "preps" and excuse her spelling problems and mischaracterization. One note in Chapter 6 reveals that Dumbledore's swearing is the result of him having a headache.
- The actual identity of "Tara Gillesbie" is one of the most famous mysteries in fandom, with several people having claimed to be her but failed to bring proof. Part of the reason why the real identity of Tara is so sought out is that nobody can sort if the fic was a deliberate parody of the style and trends of bad fanfics at the time, or merely an actual example of it (at least, before it was hacked). Many of the claimers have swear that it was an intentional parody of the state of Harry Potter fandom circa 2006, but many other people (most famously the members of Encyclopedia Dramatica) suggest that, due to the extent of Tara's internet presence at the time, the fic was an actual earnestly written badfic, with the increasingly bizarre occurrences in the story merely being the actual reactions of a actual, unhinged teen dealing badly with backslash and trolling.
- The most notorious of authorship claimers was YA author Rose Christo in 2017, complete with an interview in Buzzfeed and apparent solid proof. But since these claims suspiciously coincided with the announcement of her autobiography, and some of her alleged backstory events seem inconsistent, there are still some doubts about her being the real deal.
- There are many spin-offs inspired by the infamous fanfic (or rather, fanfics that are as bad). For the Death Note version, see Light and Dark - The Adventures of Dark Yagami. For the Twilight version, see Twila the Girl Who Waz In Luv With A Vampyre or Forbiden Fruit the Tempation of Edward Cullen. For the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann version, see Gurren Lagannhen. For the Pokémon version, see Pokémon: Attack of Mewtwo. For the Redwall version, see soulless shell, though that one's closer to legolas by laura in some ways. For the Warrior Cats version, see StarKits Prophcy. For The Legend of Zelda version, see My Inner Life.*
