Monkey Island (series)/Awesome Music

The Monkey Island series has had awesome, atmospheric tropical music since 1990. A lot of characters have their own recognizable leitmotifs, and many islands have memorable themes. A lot of the music was composed by LucasArts in-house composer Michael Land.

In General

• The intro theme to the original Secret of Monkey Island, which is so iconic that it has been remixed, for every game, except for the second one.
  • The intro theme got ramped up for the Special Edition combining the old and new, the result simply being amazing!

The Secret of Monkey Island

• The music for the Melee Island map.
• The SCUMM Bar theme.
• The theme for Monkey Island itself.

Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge

• The second game got its own intro music, which some would argue is better than the first one.
  • And its Special Edition version.
• The Underground Tunnels, a surprisingly creepy piece for this series.
• The Scabb Island map.
• Stan got a new theme in this game, which was so great it became his new theme song for the rest of the series.
• The guitar riff in this song is almost otherworldly.
• This song is surprisingly epic too

The Curse of Monkey Island

• A pirate I was meant to be. Also an Ear Worm.
• Blood Island had a tone of good and creepy music. There's the map music, outside the Goodsoup hotel, the upstairs hotel, and the cemetery.
  • The cemetery theme is a newly arranged version of the cemetery theme from MI 2, which is also pleasantly creepy.
• Puerto Pollo's theme.

Escape from Monkey Island

• Lucre Island town music.

Tales of Monkey Island

• The sweet theme of Spinner Cay, De Singe's theme, Morgan's swordfight theme, Hardtack and Trenchfoot's theme, the Belly of the Manatee, and the finale.
  • These songs can be part Creepy Music, part Awesome Music, and part Terrifying Music: "De Singe's Battle Theme", "LeChuck's Revenge", "Rise of the Pirate God", and "The Ultimate Battle".
