Looking for Group/YMMV

  • Ass Pull: For a lot of people, the pairing of Cale and Benny came right out of nowhere.
  • Author's Saving Throw: Much criticism has been levied on the comic's switch from easygoing fantasy-parody comedy to a more dramatic story with elements of humor. The main character, Cale, has had a recent extended flashback sequence that is working to fit the ludicrously light-hearted Cale of the very first strip into the full canon.
  • Non Sequitur Scene: Quite a few, but it's Lampshaded in the Boom de Yada comic.
  • Character Development: Cale and Richard getting most of it. Which it is depends on your point of view.
    • Richard did like to kill things, and we all saw what happened with that little boy and his village. And Richard's rabbit, though who knows if that was real compassion or just manipulation. But then again, he did heal Cale's neck when it was slashed.
      • It's probably just Cale, considering he also had him resurrected after killing him.
    • In-Universe, done deliberately to Cale's wife so that he would leave her behind and begin wandering.
  • Broken Base: There are three kinds of LFG fans: The fans who got into the comic after Cerebus Syndrome set in, the kinds who think it Jumped the Shark after Cerebus Syndrome set in, and the kind who like the comic either way.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Richard is a frequent source of this. You can't spell "slaughter" without "laughter."
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Has a separate page.
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Has a separate page.
  • Draco in Leather Pants: Richard gets both kinds. Yes, he's a dangerously Ax Crazy Heroic Comedic Sociopath, but he's so gosh-darn funny that the fans often overlook it. And lets not even start on his fangirls...
  • Ear Worm: ♪You've nowhere to hide, nowhere to run. Your village will burn like the heart of the suuuuuun! With infinite glee, it's going to be me, that slaughters the wooooorld!♪
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Go on, guess who it is.
  • Fandom Rivalry: Pella being named as The Scrappy by a few outspoken Richard fans lead to the formation of the first major character-specific fan group, the Pella Admirers' Indefatigable Nation (P.A.I.N.) followed mere hours later by one for Richard, then one for Cale, one for Felbunny and on and on. Subverted somewhat since the fans aren't actually arguing over real actors but different cartoon characters drawn by the same man.
  • Fan Nickname: Felbunny (Richard's pet rabbit) and Commander Kickass (the general of the armies of Legaria).
    • Cale's master in the flashback was dubbed Elven Sean Connery.
  • Fetish Fuel: Pella, in a low cut top and an apron, working over a forge, sweat running down her densely muscled arms.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Benny has spent less time in battle compared to the other characters ever since she and Cale started their relationship when before, she was one of the major combatants. This is because Cale is purposely keeping her out of harms way for fear of losing her. Incidentally, this treatment is also pissing her off.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: FOR PONY!
  • Gannon Banned: Saying LFG is a WoW story on the forums. DON'T DO IT FOR THE SAKE OF EVERYONE YOU'VE EVER LOVED, for the amount of flaming you'll be a victim to will likely kill them too.
    • It actually started out as a Warcraft parody, but instantly shifted into it's own world after the first page.
      • The mention of that sets them off too, by the way.
  • Jump the Shark: Some parts of the Broken Base think it did this after the switch to a more serious story. This isn't helped by the consistent-yet-slow schedule of the comic, although Archive Binging takes the sting out of most pacing problems.
  • Magnum Opus Dissonance: Sohmer's first work, Least I Could Do, is far more divisive than LFG, which started out as a goofy Affectionate Parody of World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons he did for fun. LFG has become far and away the most popular of his works.
  • Mood Whiplash: Courtesy of Richard. From a typical Bloody Hilarious battle to a ruthless slaughter of innocents played dead serious.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Richard.

Richard: Are you Soldiers?
Peasants: No.

  • Richard lights up for a fireball*

Peasants: Wait! We are innocents.
Richard: I know.
*FWOOOSH*
