Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger/Characters
The Zyurangers
Geki/Tyranno Ranger | Actor: Yuuta Mochizuki
The Prince of Yamato Tribe, 'Warrior of Justice'. He was raised believing that the King of the Yamato Tribe was his father, until it turns out he was adopted from the King's sworn enemy, the Black Knight. His natural brother Burai antagonizes him for being raised by their real father's old enemy, but Geki successfully convinced him to bury the hatchet of hate. He wields the Ryugekiken and after Burai's death, he dual wields it with Burai's Zyusouken.
- Cain and Abel: The Abel to Burai's Cain.
- Changeling Fantasy: Reversed
- Gratuitous English: His royal title is Purinsu, not Ōji.
- The Hero
- Law of Chromatic Superiority: Geki inherits the Dragon Armor and Zyusouken after Burai's death, allowing him to become the Armed Tyranno Ranger. His Guardian Beast Tyrannosaurus is also the only mecha that can fight giant-sized Dora Monsters by itself and finish them off occasionally (since it's the only bipedal type out of the main five).
- Oblivious Adoption
- Super Mode: Armed Tyranno Ranger
- Tyrannosaurus Rex: His Guardian Beast.
- Warrior Prince
- Weapon of Choice: Heroes Prefer Swords
- Cool Sword: Ryugekiken [1]
- Dual-Wielding: The Ryugekiken and Zyusouken [2], as Armed Tyranno Ranger.
Goushi/Mammoth Ranger | Actor: Seiju Umon (credited under the pseudonym Aohisa Takayasu)
A Knight of the Sharma Tribe and Warrior of Wisdom. Was once Geki's boone companion before being sealed. Raised with his sister Otome, who eventually died fighting Bandora, inspiring him further.
- Dead Big Sister
- Genius Bruiser: Is a pretty powerful powerhouse and is very into lore and reading.
- The Lancer
- Revenge
- The Smart Guy: Just look at his title, god damn it.
- Swiss Army Weapon: Moth Breaker
- An Axe to Grind: Standard mode
- BFG: Laser rifle mode.
Dan/Tricera Ranger | Actor: Hideki Fujiwara
A Knight from the Etof Tribe and the Warrior of Courage. A happy-go-lucky jokester guy who's Hot-Blooded and likes to slack off, though once he set his sight on something noble, he'd never stop pursuing it.
- Adult Child: Even Boi is more mature than him
- Bifurcated Weapon: Tricelance
- Double Prong: Standard mode.
- Dual-Wielding: Can split into two spears.
- The Big Guy: Moreso on his Hot-Blooded tendencies and bravado, though.
- Casanova Wannabe: Likes chasing girls, without much success
- Expy: On the previous show, his actor Hideki Fujiwara played a blue birdman whose name is... Dan
- Hot-Blooded
- Idiot Hero
- Name's the Same: See expy entry.
Boi/Tiger Ranger | Actor: Takumi Hashimoto
A Knight of the Daim Tribe and Warrior of Hope. The youngest of the team, though mentally more mature than Dan. Excels in high speed attacks. Due to his youth, he's popular with kids.
- Actor Allusion: He learns ninjutsu in an episode titled "Ninja Warrior Boi". This is a reference to Hashimoto's previous role as Manabu Yamaji in Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya.
- Big Eater: Okay, that one incident with Gnome does have motivation, but he tops the rest of the Zyurangers in terms of appetite.
- Does Not Like Spam: Carrots are one of the few things he won't eat.
- Dual-Wielding Knife Nut: Saber Daggers
- Fragile Speedster
- Friend to All Children
- Kid Appeal Character
- Lethal Chef: Downplayed. Despite being the Team Chef, the Zyurangers claimed that Boi's foods weren't as good. But at least, it didn't send his teammates to the toilets or knocked them unconscious.
- Shaped Like Itself: He's a boy... named Boi.
- Wise Beyond Their Years: He's acting quite mature.
Mei/Ptera Ranger | Actress: Reiko Chiba
The Princess of the Risha Tribe and 'Warrior of Love'. Kind, loving, but has an iron-will. Formed some sort of rivalry with Lamie later on.
- Action Girl
- The Archer: Ptera Arrow
- The Chick
- Everything's Better with Princesses: Why are the rest Knights, while she's just Princess? Granted, Geki is also a prince, but at least he's supposed to be the leader.
- Hair Decorations: Changes her hairstyle nearly everytime. Usually with new hair decorations.
- Generation Xerox: Her ancestor once performed a Heroic Sacrifice to destroy a monster. When that monster came back, Mei repeats the event, only without the Heroic Sacrifice.
- Girlish Pigtails: Occasionally sports this.
- Gratuitous English: Like Geki. It's Purinsesu, not Hime.
- Love You and Everybody: Why she could get away with being 'Warrior of Love' and not being romantically involved with anyone. She deals with more universal love.
- Master of Disguise: Once got into a battle with Lamie while changing clothes in the middle of battle.
- The Smurfette Principle
- Weaksauce Weakness: Not in her, but she and her tribe often acts like this to various Dora Monsters, in case that not even Daizyuzin and Dragon Caesar can destroy it.
- Wholesome Crossdresser: Among her disguises, the Masked Musketeer would be worn by a man.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: Surprisingly, she is the tomboy in her rivalry with Lamie, mostly because of the trope above and several of her so many hairstyles tend to make her look short-haired (she just ties her hair short)
- Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: On the other hand, though, she's not a complete tomboy and most of the time doing a LOT of feminine things (like liking flowers).
Burai/Dragon Ranger | Actor: Shiro Izumi
The Warrior of Power from the Yamato Tribe. The elder son of the Black Knight and Geki's estranged brother, who came to resent Geki after he was adopted and raised by their father's enemy, the King of the Yamato Tribe. When he came back, he started antagonizing his brother and the Zyurangers, but eventually lets go of his vengeance and aids him in battle even though he has a limited life. Eventually, Bandora discovered his secret and destroyed his hideout, thus slowly killing him, but not after he passed on most of his strength to Geki.
- Aloof Big Brother: A much more cynical example, but he got better.
- Possibly a Deconstruction - when he's not mysteriously appearing to save his brother, he's sitting in isolation hoping he doesn't die.
- Cain and Abel: The Cain to Geki's Abel.
- Death's Hourglass: Lives on it.
- Evil Prince: His first act after waking up from millions of years of suspended animation is to proclaim himself as the Prince of the Yamato Tribe before attacking the Zyurangers.
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Same goes to his American Counterpart!
- Heel Face Turn
- Kamehame Hadoken: The energy projectile he throws during his first battle with the Zyurangers... Which he never uses again.
- Killed Off for Real
- Redemption Equals Death
- Sixth Ranger: The Trope Namer. While not the first ranger to join his team mid-series (being preceded by Big One, as well as Black Bison and Green Sai), he was the first to be both, an actual sixth ranger and a recurring character (X-1 Mask only lasted one episode).
- Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Which is the reason why the writers limited his powers and later killed him off, since he was overshadowing the other Zyurangers.
- Too Cool to Live
- The Usurper: His first act after awakening was to literally proclaim himself as the "Prince of the Yamato Tribe".
- Weapon of Choice
- Knife Nut: Zyusouken
- Powered Armor: Dragon Armor
Daizyuzin | Voice: Eiji Maruyama
- All Your Powers Combined:
- Combining Mecha: Combined from the team's five Shugozyu (Guardian Beast) mechs.
- Meaningful Name: Daizyuzin means "Great Beast God"
- Mecha Expansion Pack: He can "wear" Dragon Caesar as a helmet and cape to become Zyutei (Beast Emperor) Daizyuzin and then "ride" King Brachion as a steed to become Kyukyoku (Ultimate) Daizyuzin.
- Mechanical Lifeforms: More of a mechanical god actually.
- Spell My Name with an "S": "Daizyuzin" and "Daizyujin" have both been used in official products.
- Transforming Mecha: He can transform into (or rather he transforms from) the Beast Tank Dino Tanker.
Dragon Caesar
- Mecha Expansion Pack: He can combined with the Triceratops, Saber Tiger and Zyu Mammoth to form Gouryuzin (Mighty Dragon God).
- Mechanical Lifeforms: He becomes depressed in the episode after Burai dies.
Zyukishin King Brachion
- Mecha Expansion Pack: Functions as a steed for Daizyuzin or any of his other forms.
- Transforming Mecha: He can turn into a tank by becoming the Super Beast Tank King Tanker.

Bandora
Grifforther
- Bling of War
- The Brute

- Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: With Lamie.
Lamie
- Bling of War
- Dark Action Girl
- Co-Dragons: With Grifforther
- Evil Is Sexy
- Pregnant Badass/Human Mom, Nonhuman Dad: Just shortly after she gets sealed with Bandora, she gives birth to one child. Which could mean she's been fighting the Zyurangers while pregnant.
- Spoiled Brat
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: Even though she's the Evil Is Sexy Dark Action Girl, she ends up being the 'girly girl' when compared to Mei. Because of that one trope above.
- Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: The dark to Mei's light, since she's really sensual with Grifforzer.
Pleprechaun
Totpat & Bookback
- Not So Harmless: Not on extreme level, but when you compare with their Power Rangers counterparts, they could sometimes cause a great threat to the Zyurangers, when they're not goofing around.
- Those Two Bad Guys
Dai-Satan
- Bigger Bad
- Satan
- Ultimate Evil: Of the Zyuranger universe.
