Kiwi Farms

The Kiwi Farms was founded as a successor to the CWCki forums (known for their discussion of Christian Weston Chandler and Sonichu), managed by Joshua 'Null' Moon. The name comes from an easy to pronounce phonetic spelling of CWCki. It's not a website about the bird or fruit, though they do have a logo modeled after the bird at least.

Their goal is not only to discuss and follow the activities of Christian Weston Chandler, but also other people of interest, who they call 'lolcows", after internet slang denoting someone who acts foolishly, especially online, and whose reactions can be "milked" for laughs.

Tropes used in Kiwi Farms include:
  • Acceptable Targets: It's at the point where just about everything is subject to mockery.
  • Arch Enemies: They've racked up quite a list of people who consider themselves this, though the KF members tend to regard them all as Harmless Villains at best.
  • Autism: Frequently referenced as both an insult and Self Deprecating Humor, though this is often in jest, as many members are admitted autistics, and they do distinguish between a formal diagnosis and the internet slang version, with the former treated with appropriate seriousness when applicable.
  • Asshole Victim: PEDOPHILES. They hate any lolcow who is also a pedophile or has confessed to such tendencies so much they will add the full address of the cow in question to any thread title about them.
  • Banned in China:
    • Due to the Christchurch mass shooting and hosting a video of it, the forums were temporarily blocked in New Zealand from a coordinated move by the authorities in an attempt to curb terrorism. And certain Australian ISPs had also blacklisted the site, along with several other websites that were infamous for hosting hate speech.
    • And as of October 19th, 2019 it's blocked in Australia until they remove the Christchurch video.
  • Defector From Decadence: Many former lolcows and ex-members of lolcow organizations fall under this by their standards, and a sizable amount of their membership is composed of these in some fashion.
  • The Dreaded: Are this for many people they've had threads on, to the point of being considered scarier than Encyclopedia Dramatica.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: They point and laugh at the actions of anyone who makes a fool of themselves and get more amused if the party in question get enraged at the Farms, but they do have some standards:
    • They will report any crimes to the authorities, like child abuse/pornography, someone making claims of attempting suicide, and will even try (in a Tough Love way) to help lolcows who could better themselves if possible.
    • Any Kiwi (site member) who becomes a lolcow gets a thread because they don't play favorites.
    • They consider to be distasteful for a Kiwi to actually join another site or directly communicate with a lolcow for the purpose of trolling. But it's an open season when a lolcow joins Kiwi Farms, however.
  • Equal Opportunity Evil: People from all walks of life are members, and while they all come from various backgrounds and beliefs, they are all welcome so long as they abide by the site culture and are there to point and laugh at lolcows.
  • Fandom Rivalry: With /cow/, the 8chan board that also follows lolcows, which stems from bad blood following how Null had a falling out with the leadership of 8chan over some badly done upgrades to their site software and ever since the two have been enemies, though /cow/ tends to pay more attention to the rivalry.
  • Forever War: Some of the more angry lolcows they cover have sworn to do this until the Farms go down. Needless to say, that is not likely to happen anytime soon.
  • Friendly Fandoms: Tends to get along with Encyclopedia Dramatica due to shared interests.
    • Note they are friendly over shared interests. They will relentlessly mock each other regardless because they are both in the business of mockery.
  • Frivolous Lawsuit: Some of the more indignant lolcows have threatened these, to no avail.
  • Grammar Nazi: Well, they exist. But with their culture of mocking everyone equally, it's the same as pouring gasoline on a bonfire.
  • Hatedom: Have acquired a sizable one due to the fact they mock everyone equally.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Most to all damning information about lolcows is typically their own words and actions merely being discussed, and the resultant shame and blastback is this trope in practice.
    • Joe Crusher Pickles' thread about Alexander Cayford (a nobody in the reviewing community). Not even a page and his accounts were already discovered, and the thread became about him. Lesson? Don't use the same name on Kiwi Farms as your lolicon account.
  • Internet Detective: One of their specialties is documenting everything on lolcows and building incredibly complete dossiers on them, which is part of the reason they are feared even more than Encyclopedia Dramatica in some cases.
  • Intrepid Reporter: They have a lot of members who are quite good at keeping track of ongoing drama, with some of their members even going to trials and public events to deliver reports on certain lolcows.
  • Jerkass: What a lot of people consider them a forum catering to.
    • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: They hate pedophiles and have bent every effort to make sure their crimes are recorded, even playing a role in getting one incarcerated, and have shown genuine pleasure at lolcows who shed their cow status and act like other human beings instead.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: They are quite good at screenshotting and archiving the activities of lolcows, which they do to make sure those records aren't disappeared.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: They tend to mock a lot of cows with the tendency, even having a wiki where they chronicle all the incompetence of some cows and dissect in detail why they know nothing about what they claim expertise in.
  • Let's Play: Well, they're called a "Let's Sperg" with one user starting a thread of them playing through a game; usually providing commentary and the occasional dose of trivia in the form of screencaps (or more rarely, their YouTube channel). Other times, it dives into a one-shot post of mocking a terrible game (and in one case, documenting the drama that comes from the scathing review) followed by everyone asking "why did OP just torture himself.". It's worth noting that most of the legitimate ones focus on out-of-print RPGs.
  • Loophole Abuse: A lot of lolcows have tried to get the Farms shut down for talking about them, but they are protected from this because it is not illegal in their jurisdiction from simply talking about the public acts and information of others, and so long as they can obtain what they discuss through public channels, they are legally untouchable.
  • Mascot: The green kiwi that makes up their logo.
  • Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Lolcows that do horrifying things are called "horrorcows."
  • Oh Crap, There Are Fanfics of Us: Defied. Not only have they been amused at any fanart or fanfics of themselves, they even made their own.
  • Old Shame: The Entersphere, closed down in May 2015, to the point where Mr. Enter related discussion wasn't allowed for two years.
  • Salt the Earth: A common reaction by any lolcow who gets a thread is an attempt to invoke this trope with their social media accounts, with varying levels of success.
  • Self-Deprecation: They constantly mock themselves as being just as autistic as many of the lolcows they follow, though with the caveat they are self-aware.
  • Sex Is Evil and I Am Horny: Lolcows dubbed "Porncows" tend to embody this trope, especially since they hail or have hailed from the porn industry, tend to have callous or depraved views of sexuality, and it plays a major part in their notoriety as a lolcow.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: A character flaw of a LOT of lolcows they discuss.
  • So Proud of You: They have this reaction to anyone who tries to avert and discontinue whatever got them dubbed a lolcow.
  • Speak of the Devil: Some of the smarter lolcows realize drawing attention to the Kiwi Farms threads on themselves is a bad idea. However, some can't resist talking about it, but try to avoid mentioning the site name itself, presumably to maintain deniability and not lead people to any embarrassing information about them.
  • Spiritual Successor: To the original CWCki forums, and has since expanded well beyond discussions about Christian Weston Chandler or Sonichu.
  • The Wiki Rule: The Lolcow Wiki.
  • Too Much Information: A practice discouraged among site members, which is considered "powerleveling".
  • Troll: A forum with many of these, though directly doing so is generally discouraged as "weening"[1] However, they have pulled off trolls to piss off certain groups, such as temporarily rebranding themselves as the "Gamergate Farms" and pretending to be a hyper zealous pro-Gamergate outpost, just to piss off both sides of that debate.
  • Worthy Opponent: Any lolcow that has a negative reaction to the Farms yet acts reasonably mature about it.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Have a strict rule of not having threads on minors (anyone under 18).
  1. A term based off "Epic Win", a reference to the meme of someone hoping to do something everyone will appreciate but comes off as trying too hard and makes them look stupid instead
