Juken Sentai Gekiranger/YMMV
- Awesome Music: The Opening. It... just has to be the best of SS openings ever.
- Complete Monster: Long! So, in order to create the god of destruction and destroy the world, Long has to remove all worldly attachments from a person by systematically destroying everything they love. He did it four thousand years ago to Maku, causing the original rebellion, the Kensei had to use a forbidden technique and be turned into animals before he could destroy the world. Years later, Long destroys Jan and Rio's hometown. Jan loses his mother, forcing him to be raised in the jungle. Rio is taken in by Master Shafu, but eventually turns away and seeks evil power to get revenge on anyone.
- Ear Worm: "Kageki!". Oh lord, the Hot-Blooded lyrics; you can feel the heat just from listening!
"Super Gekiranger!
Fighter of Wild Heart
Show them your Extreme Geki
Su-per- Ge-ki-ran-ger!"
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Rio and Mele, probably due to their Troperiffic-ness.
- Evil Is Cool: Rio
- Evil Is Sexy: Mele is a hot-as-hell undead girl[1] in a Stripperiffic China dress with leather straps as part of the clothing.
- Fanon Discontinuity: Rio and Mele getting killed? Nope, that didn't happen.
- Oh, yes it happened, and the price for a brief return is rather high.
- Fetish Fuel: Mele is a station attendant already with her appearance, but when Long captures and ties her up with spread-eagle, not only it turns on BDSM fetishes, it lets you view her delicious armpits. Which gets viewed A LOT.
- Cherry, from that trio of thieves that appears on episode 36 and shows attraction for Retsu may count. Her dress and the way she shows her legs are very hot.
- Foe Yay: Long and Rio. There is a spread of them in a magazine somewhere where Long is... well, VERY touchy-feely. This Troper can't have been the ONLY one who saw it! Also, on another level, Rio and Gou, considering that they used to be quite close...
- Doesn't help that Long looks like an Asian version of Clay Aiken.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: For a Sentai series with abysmal ratings (the worst since Ohranger) and low toy sales in its home country, Western Sentai fans REALLY love Gekiranger, with many calling it the best sentai in years.
- Moreover, unlike Japan, Gekiranger was overwhelmingly successful in terms of toy sales and TV ratings in Korea.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: This is most likely a coincidence: There's a very obvious parallel between Den-O and Gekiranger, both of which aired in 2007. In Gekiranger, the team is made up of 5 people in Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, and White. In Den-O, the team is made up of 1 person with other people in him corresponding to the colors Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, and White (for Wing Form). Also, in both shows, the Rival has the colors Green and Black related to them in some way.
- Tear Jerker: Rio's and Mele's deaths in episode 48.
- Too Cool to Live: Rio and Mele
- ↑ Played by Hirata Yuka, a gravure idol.
