Jimquisition/YMMV
- Designated Hero: Duke Nukem, who is played horribly straight despite being incredibly corny and horribly sexist.
- Digital Piracy Is Evil: He tends to be a bit of a middle man between this, pointing out that DRM has indeed been intrusive and bad...but also saying that it really doesn't make them look very good when games like The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings and World of Goo, released with no DRM, wind up with really high piracy-rates.
- Fan Dumb: Some people rage against Jim Sterling for being so egotistical, apparently not getting the joke.
Jim: "Instead, [[[Duke Nukem]]] should be more ironic, like, I dunno, just pulling this at random, some fat blogger with an English whiny accent, dressed up in a trenchcoat with glasses like he's some sort of rock star, with a background that makes it look like he's on a bad production of V for Vendetta. You know, something so blindingly, obviously ironic that only a fucking idiot would take it as a genuine persona."
- Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Jim was despised by The Escapist community at first, who found his persona too abrasive and arrogant. Once Jim ramped up the arrogance to comic degrees and retooled his performance to include more structured discussion, the community warmed to him and many comments describe how they went from hating to loving the show.
- So Bad It's Good: The voice acting from the Dynasty Warriors games, especially the earlier ones.
- True Art Is Incomprehensible: In "The Weird is Not Enough," Jim criticizes the tendency of some indie publishers to make their products incredibly strange without considering how much the audience might enjoy it (or not enjoy it, as the case may be).
