Hammerhead Production
Hammerhead Production is an effects studio established in the mid-1990s. As the name implies, the studio is largely known for its fish and water animation, as present in Deep Blue Sea, Blue Crush and Couples Retreat.
Aside from the above, Hammerhead's projects include:
- Bad Teacher
- Batman Forever
- Bruce Almighty
- Cloverfield
- The Core
- The Day the Earth Stood Still remake (also co-producer)
- Eight Legged Freaks
- The Fast and the Furious
- Flubber
- Herbie: Fully Loaded
- The Hunger Games (MTV Awards preview)
- I Am Number Four
- Red Planet
- Showgirls
- Supernova (also co-producer)
- Titanic
- Tropic Thunder
- The Tuxedo
- Undercover Brother
- Up in the Air
- Wanted
- Year One
Tropes associated with Hammerhead:
- Beyond the Impossible: The studio did the effects for The Hunger Games' MTV Awards trailer in only two days.
- Conspicuous CG: In many works. Presumably played with in Eight Legged Freaks
- Meaningful Name: They're named after the hammerhead shark.
- Reality Is Unrealistic: In the site's entry of Titanic, there's a comment in that the miniature ship (by Digital Domain) looked faker than the CG Dolphins that were present.
