Gundam 00: Awakening of the Trailblazer/Trivia
- Fan Nickname: "InnoRindt" and "Mao" for Descartes Shaman.
- Mythology Gag: The 00 Qan[T] is a Gundam capable of interstellar teleportation at will and is designed for interstellar warfare. Sounds familiar...
- And even before that, in the Celestial Being movie, the asteroid seen in the beginning looks highly similar to Axis...
- Shout-Out: There's a character voiced by Tohru Furuya named "E.A. Ray"; is it a pun on "Ensign Amuro Ray", or perhaps even Ribbons' Fan Nickname "Evil Amuro Ray"? Who knows?
- Word of God says it's supposed to be "the Eternal Alan Ray". Whatever that's supposed to mean is not explained.
- Several to other science fiction works seem to pop up:
- As mentioned above, the 00 Qan[T]'s Bifurcated Weapon is called GN Buster Sword. It has another mode that functions as a "gunblade" dubbed GN Buster Rifle, which itself is an obvious shout out to Gundam Wing. Also, Setsuna's personality is very similar to the wielders of all of the above.
- The title card itself is a Shout-Out to Char's Counterattack -- a shot of the main protagonists' unfinished Mid-Movie Upgrade Gundam as a background to the movie's title.
- Celestial Being (the mothership) in the Show Within a Show of the same name looks like Axis.
- The movie version of Alvaaron Alejandro Corner pilots looks horribly like Superior Dragon from the SD Gundam universe......And DID THAT AHEAD JUST USE A SUNGLASS-SHAPED BOOMERANG!?
- The Alavatore could also be yet another reference to Gurren Lagann, more specifically Parallel Works 8, where the Lazengann moves exactly like the Alavatore does.
- The Celestial Being movie is a major shout out to Super Robot anime, which many claim Gundam is swiftly turning into.
- During said movie, an Ahead throws a large crimson boomerang, which could also double as a sword, and cuts a large number of Flags in half. That sounds strangely familiar...
- You know what? The movie totally bites off of all the previous Gundam series because, wait for it... there are Gundams! That point in the movie where the Gundams are fighting in space? Copied from a previous gundam! The part where there are mobile mechanical weapons fighting each other, (robots) copied straight from Evangelion!! The Japanese people living in Japan? SOUNDS LIKE SAMURAI CHAMPLOO TO ME. And all the different people talking and interacting with each other, how can that not remind you of Cardcaptor Sakura? Oh and all the fighting and violence?? Well obviously, they got that from Dragon Ball Z with a dash of Bleach.
- At several points in the Celestial Being movie, Setsuna sounds more like Simon the Digger.
- During the Raphael's only sortie, it fires both of its giant beam bazookas in opposite directions, while turning around. Just like the Wing Zero did.
- During the huge battle against the ELS, the Zabanya uses a multi-lock feature (complete with panning shot of many targets being acquired) to initiate a storm of Beam Spam. That sounds familiar...
- In the Show Within a Show, the 00 Gundam is seen performing a SHINING FINGER SWOOOOOOOOOOORD!!!!
- Graham's Brave squadron is a homage to the Valkyrie squadron of Saotome Alto, who shares the same voice actor with him.
- It might or might not be intentional, but the entire plot, which is about a war between two different species caused by the fact that neither has any idea how to communicate with the other sounds a lot like what happened in Ender's Game.
