Grimm (TV)/Trivia

  • Actor Allusion: Brandon Quinn, who plays the Blutbad Charlie Riken in "Wesenrein" and "Tribunal", is best known for his starring role as the titular Big Wolf on Campus.
  • Actor Shared Background:
    • Like Reggie Lee, Wu is Filipino-Chinese and immigrated to the US.
    • Bitsie Tulloch speaks fluent Spanish just like Juliet. She lived abroad as a child and she has maternal relatives from Spain.
  • Dawson Casting: Chloe Bennett in "Bad Luck" is supposed to be in her mid-teens, while her actress Jenessa Grant is actually 26. It helps that she's quite petite and dainty-looking.
  • Dueling Shows:
    • When it was announced in the summer of 2011 that both NBC and ABC were developing television shows based on the classic fairy tales, an immediate rivalry between Grimm and Once Upon a Time was assumed to occur by the media. After both shows premiered it became quickly obvious that tonally they were radically different shows.
    • The CW's Supernatural is a better match against Grimm. They are tonally and serially similar, sharing the same audience and even the same time slot in Grimm's first season before Supernatural changed nights the year after.
  • Fake Nationality: Nick is German American, but David Giuntoli looks as Italian American as the day is long. Likewise his TV mom played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and apprentice Grimm Theresa "Trubel" Rubel played by Jacqueline Toboni.
  • Hey, It's That Guy!:
    • Well, well, well, if it isn't Charles "Haywire" Patoshik! Good to see you're a contributing member of society again. Even if you are a Blutbad.
    • Agent Bill Kim? What are you doing as a regular cop? How was your time on the Flying Dutchman? And now you're going to try to take on Batman?!
    • Jacob Cassidy has gone from dealing with snotty nosed teens to monsters, and is dating Alex.
    • Good to see Eddie Sutton's still fighting the good fight.
    • Ah, Sam Adama. From mob enforcer to (apparently) king of the Reapers. Maybe we'll get a shirtless scene!
      • As of "Three Coins in a Fuchsbau", we have ourselves a shirtless scene!
    • Amanda Walsh, ex-VJ for Much Music showed up as a victim of the week's beaten girlfriend.
    • Lindsey Santino is Gracie in "Organ Grinder".
    • Let's not forget Hansen in the same episode was Rex Salazar.
    • Danielle Panabaker plays a dragon. She was in Sky High, among other things. She also went from Hollywood Nerd in Sky High to growing up and filling out into a skimpy dressed fire dancer. So there's that.
    • Is that Patrick Bonano in "Last Grimm Standing"? Isn't he a detective captain?
    • Fred from Angel Investigations is a Spinnetod in "Tantella".
    • Andrew once again deals with an bad father in "Of Mouse And Man".
    • Det. Sullivan enjoys gladiator sports now in "Last Grimm Standing".
    • Basil Harris plays Anton, Renard's cousin, who was also "Cherub, The Vampire With Bunny Slippers".
  • Promoted Fangirl: Jacqueline Toboni, the actress who plays Trubel, was originally a University of Michigan student who was a huge fan of the series.
  • The Wiki Rule: Check it out here.
  • Written in Infirmity: Russell Hornsby, the actor who plays Hank, sustained a serious foot injury during Season 2. Naturally, there's no way to work around this on a cop show, so instead they sent Hank on vacation for an episode and had him return with a similar injury.
