God of War (series)/Trivia
- Actor Allusion: The voice actor playing Perseus is Harry Hamlin, who of course was Perseus in Clash of the Titans. The game character even sports the same costume and, when first met, has dialog that seems to indicate he's come straight from the movie. Sadly, since he's meeting Kratos, it appears poor Andromeda will be eaten by the Kraken after all... but Kratos kills that, too.
- Carole Ruggier, who plays the character of Athena in the first two games, also plays Athena in the Age of Mythology RTS.
- Kevin Sorbo shows up in God of War 3. Take a guess as to who he voices.
- In the Japanese version, (and also overlaps with Relationship Voice Actor), Kratos, Hera and Aphrodite's voice actors already worked together in an anime series who also involves the Greek Mythology.
- Also, Yuko Kaida, who voiced Persephone in Japanese, also voiced another Persephone in Wild ARMs 5.
- Hey, It's That Voice!: The Titan Atlas is voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan, the Kingpin in the Film Adaptation of Daredevil, and the go-to guy in Hollywood for "Freaking Huge Black Dude". Not to mention Harry Hamlin reprising his role as Perseus.
- While Gaia is voiced by Linda Hunt (who also voiced Grandmother Willow (a talking tree) in Pocahontas) in the first two games, she is voiced by Susan Blakeslee in the 3rd game, who played Maleficent in the Kingdom Hearts games.
- In the third game, Hercules was voiced by Kevin Sorbo, and Malcolm McDowell as Daedalus. In the second game, Paul Eiding voices Theseus (and did the voice of Zeus in the first game), Debi Mae West voices Atropos, and Josh Keaton voices the young Spartan whom Kratos eventually kills. All three have lent their voices to another series.
- Speaking of Metal Gear veterans, in the second game, Hercules was originally going to appear voiced by Cam Clarke, who also famously voiced another Kratos (Well, "KRAH-tos").
- Mr. Krabs / The Kurgan / Lex flippin' Luthor is Hades
- If you ever heard the Japanese language (wherever there is. Domestically, that's easy to do in Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny), you'll notice that Kratos is voiced by Tessho Genda, AKA Optimus Prime. We're screwed...
- At last, a sensible justification for "GIVE ME YOUR FACE!"
- And in the third, Helios, the Sun God, is voiced by Crispin Freeman, a man known for his vampires.
- Fans of Fox's sitcom Living Single would have trouble imagining perpetually-pissed Kratos being voiced by T.C. Carson - the same guy who played mostly mellow and suave Kyle.
- He's also the Star Wars Expanded Universe Mace Windu, which is considerably less WTH.
- Rip Torn (Hephaestus) voiced |a different (much purer) Zeus and April Stewart (Aphrodite) voiced a different Pandora.
- Was more of a brief cameo appearance than anything else, but Artemis was Claudia Black.
- The soldier from the above-mentioned Escort Mission begs for his life with the voice of Pinky. Thanks for making us murder our childhoods, Sony!
- Fans of the Legacy of Kain series might recognize minor character Peirithous as Simon Templeman, voice of Kain.
- What a coincidence! Also in the Italian game Peirithous and Kain share the same voice actor, also known for Piccolo.
- The Other Darrin: Athena went from Carole Ruggier in the first two games to Erin Torpey in the third.
- What Could Have Been: In the third game, they planned for Aphrodite to draw a dagger in the middle of the sex mini-game and try to stab Kratos, forcing you to win a Quick Time Event to survive, but changed their minds.
- This interview, (content starts 10 minutes in) reveals an alternate story for God of War 3. Zeus would have been killed at the beginning of the game and the gods from Egyptian Mythology and Norse Mythology would fight the Olympians and Titans for control over the world. The game would end with all the gods dead, Kratos killing himself to reunite with his family and The Three Wise Men following the Star of David.
