Full Metal Panic!/YMMV
- Base Breaker: There is no middle ground when it comes to people's feelings toward Gauron. They either love him for being a psychotic Stalker with a Crush that just won't die, or hate him for being a shallow villain that doesn't have a grander purpose in life.
- Non Sequitur Scene: At the end of an episode of Fumoffu, a normally kind janitor is fed his prize koi fish (on accident), causing him to get possessed by a demon, grab a chainsaw he keeps in his closet, and attack Sosuke and his friend. Or something. It's never mentioned again, and the janitor is back to normal in the morning.
- The janitor does make a very brief appearance in the last episode of Fumoffu, having apparently reverted to his chainsaw-wielding demon self during the anarchy of the released bio-weapon.
- Complete Monster: Gauron and Gates.
- Crossing the Line Twice: The second segment for the first episode of Fumoffu, "A Hostage with No Compromises."
- Gates does this all the time.
- Crowning Moment of Awesome : When Sōsuke fights five Venom units in the finale, and singlehandedly hands their asses to them, when at first, he had great difficulty in defeating even one.
- He had one even earlier than that! In the final episode of season one (the one helmed by GONZO), after Gauron's Anguished Declaration of Love, he loses his temper, and delivers one hell of a comeback.
Sousuke: Kashim... YOU AREN'T MY FRIEND!! DON'T CALL ME THAT, YOU SHITHEAD!!!
- The last two episodes of the first season is just one CMOA after another, with each major character getting their shot. The best may be Tessa's, who stops Gauron's plan by taking control of Dana back, managing to save the TDD-1 from not one, but two incoming torpedoes with ONE manuever, all while in a mind link with Kaname, to help her meld with the ship, and inform her of what to do after the meld is made. The look on Tessa's face when she confronts Gauron after all of this, while blood is running down half her face, is pure awesome.
- Crowning Moment of Funny: The entire rugby episode of Fumoffu, natch. The SoundEffectBleeps only add to the gut-busting laughter when accompanied by Sousuke quoting Full Metal Jacket.
- And then the game starts.
- Really, Fumoffu deserves its own Crowning Moment of Funny page. Any takers?
- Hello? Bonta-kun shock troopers, anyone?
- Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Kaname mentions she trusts Sousuke during his rather intimate haircut. Cue adorable blushing.
- In the epilogue, THE kiss!
- Also in the final book, Kaname deciding not to change the world because she would never have met the Sousuke she knew. Also doubles as a Tear Jerker.
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Tessa, to the point where she gets her own O.V.A. all about her day.
- Evil Is Sexy: Yu Lan and Yu Fan so very much.
- Gauron is rather attractive for a middle-aged man.
- Idiot Plot: The last 5 episodes of the 1st season of the Anime rely on a hostage situation that is only possible because lots of people who know better decide it is safer to allow a proven Mad Dog killer have access to the bridge of a heavily armed warship than to try to fight him and risk him killing people.
- But—but—it's Gauron, of all people! ...besides, Tessa seemed well-prepared for it, anyway (replacing the torpedoes on the submarine with duds, for instance).
- Launcher of a Thousand Ships: Sōsuke. He's been paired with pretty much all the major characters, plus some side characters. Men, women, friends, enemies, characters much older than him, you name it.
- He would probably believe that "shipping" would be used in its actual sense.
- Memetic Sex God: Everyone wants to do Sōsuke.
- Even more people want to do Kaname, Tessa, Melissa, and Kyoko.
- Moe: Oh Lord, Sōsuke when he was young. Absolutely. Adorable. And very huggable, too. Especially when he's holding his Bonta-kun stuffed animal.
- His eyes are like saint's.
- Nightmare Fuel: Gauron. As well as Gates in the second season.
- The very last shot of the Fumoffu finale might qualify as well. Lord knows how Sōsuke got out of that alive...
- Something to do with the above memetic sex god entry, or failing that CS gas and running like hell.
- One word: POOONYYYYY!!!
- The very last shot of the Fumoffu finale might qualify as well. Lord knows how Sōsuke got out of that alive...
- Squick: Wait, was Gates just whacking off, and all that was shown on screen was a picture of a kitten?
- Pretty sure that was a Visual Pun.
- The Woobie: Believe it or not, one of the background stories turns Sousuke into this.
- More like an Stoic Woobie actually.
- Jerkass Woobie: Xia Yu Fan and Xia Yu Lan.
- More like an Stoic Woobie actually.
- Woolseyism: The Rugby episode from Fumoffu. Full stop.
- What the Hell, Casting Agency?: The proposed Live Action Adaptation has Zac Efron attached to the project. Cue the inevitable fandom cry of "It's gonna suck!"
- Can you image how more disturbing will Gauron obsession with Sosuke be, when it will involve musical numbers with 9 meter tall mecha.
- Efron is at the very least a fan of the series, and he himself said that the movie probably won't happen.
