Fate/stay night/Awesome Music
Fate Stay Night has some truly awesome music:
- Colliding Souls. Used for most of the battles between the heroic Servant Spirits.
- Sword of Promised Victory. The game's Noble Phantasm theme, when someone's about to go "gloves off" with an epic attack, like Saber pulling out Excalibur in Fate, Lancer's ultimate attack with Gae Bolg in UBW, or Rider and Shirou combining their ultimate attacks to take down Saber Alter (calling back nicely to the first example).
- The anime version is pretty badass as well.
- As well as the Fate/zero version.
- Hollow Ataraxia version: Excalibur
- In a similar vein here is Red Saber's own Noble Phantasm theme Saber, Everything is in your Hands.
- From the Realta Nua version: Mighty Wind. The music that plays when Shirou takes on Saber Alter one - on - one... and wins at the cost of his mind. A badass background music for such a badass Bad End. Also in an awesome Unlimited Codes remix.
- Yume no Owari (End of the Dream) Also from the 'Realta Nua' version In the Last Episode, when Shiro and Saber finally reunite.
- EMIYA, aka Shirou's theme. When this queues up, something is going to get utterly destroyed. Comes in a wide variety of flavors:
- EMIYA #0, a techno version.
- EMIYA #1, the Visual Novel version.
- EMIYA #2, the Hollow Ataraxia version.
- EMIYA Kenji Kawai Ver., the Anime version.
- EMIYA Kenji Kawai Ver.2, the Movie version.
- EMIYA -Time Alter-, the Fate/Zero version for the father's music of badassery.
- -EMIYA-, the Unlimited Codes version.
- Blade Soul, a remix from Battle Moon Wars
- Archer, The Hero Who Nobody Knows - Servant Stay Night, the Fate/EXTRA version of EMIYA.
- Crow's Claw's first version of EMIYA.
- Broken Phantasm, Crow's Claw's second version of EMIYA.
- South of Heaven's version of EMIYA.
- EMIYA -faith / denial-
- EMIYA Trance Mix.
- EMIYA ZTS Remix.
- Azureflux's electronic version, Physicality.
- Faker Hero, do you have enough remixes? If not, try REMIYAX, a remix megamix.
- Light and Darkness. The Heaven's Feel final battle music between Shirou and Kotomine. The Crowning Moment within the music is actually the fanfare at about :53, which coincides with Shirou's final burst of Heroic Resolve and frenzied counterattack against Kotomine. The metal remix makes it even better by slipping into This Illusion piano strokes near the end.
- All Evils of the World. A remix of the earlier track Church on the Hill, it plays throughout most of the climactic scenes in Heaven's Feel. It also does an excellent job of just screaming Ultimate Evil, serving very well as Dark Sakura and Angra Mainyu's Theme.
- The Fate/zero version for your pleasure.
- And the equally awesome Fate/Unlimited Codes version.
- Realta Nua adds another remix of Church On The Hill/All The Evils Of The World, In The Name Of God which also plays during some of the most climatic scenes in that route, but is instead bone-chillingly epic and at the same time incredibly emotional, doing an astounding job at setting the mood for the scenes it plays in.
- The Fate/zero version for your pleasure.
- Of course, no list is complete without the awesome opening theme of the game, This Illusion. Awesome as that is, it's still topped by the piano instrumental version, which plays over most of the emotional scenes in the game. Now comes in bitching Instrumental format, which plays when Rin faces Dark Sakura and her shadow monsters with the magical gem sword Zelretch
- Symphonic version for your consideration.
- Whirlpool of Fate, most memorably (for this Troper) played during the reveal of the second Archer-class servant's true identity in the Fate route.
- It also plays during the aftermath of the titanic battle between Archer (aka "Heroic Spirit Emiya Shirou") and Berserker (aka Hercules) [1]. See the Crowning Moment of Awesome page for details on the battle.
- Even though it's in the anime and not the video game, I am still shocked that Unmei no Yoru ("Night of Fate") isn't here already. SO. UTTERLY. SHOCKED.
- And the UBW movie track of the same name increases the awesome.
- And the same goes for Tenchi Hou Take ("Roar of the Universe").
- Here's a looped version for twice the awesome.
- Can't believe no one mentioned the ultimate Tear Jerker song Ever-present feeling from the video game. It plays during very sad and emotional scenes, but it takes the cake during the part that Shirou stabs Saber Alter with the Azoth Dagger
- La Sola, even though it's anime only, beats it in terms of sheer heart-wrenching emotion.
- Going with the theme of sad songs, Realta Nua's Sorrow as well.
- An awesome remix of the earlier mentioned Ever-present feeling for your listening pleasure.
- The Menu theme was so awesome that it was cut and remixed to be used in conjunction with Fox Caster's Noble Phantasm, Caster, An Extra Life With Anyone She Wants.
- Guys for real. How in the hell is the theme song from Fate Unlimited Codes, code not on this list?!
- New Dawn which plays at the end of all three routes. After seeing all the struggle and conflict the characters go through at their darkest hour, when victory is finally achieved and the Holy Grail War is over, this theme plays. It's warm, embracing rhythms is simple yet so strong. It's the kind of theme that tells you "Yes, it's finally over. You've won and have earned your happy ending."
Its prequel, Fate/Zero, also has music to rival those above in its two soundtracks. With the anime just getting started expect this list to grow. Besides EMIYA, The Sword of Promised Victory and All Evils of the World mentioned above, of particular note are:
- The Lancer
- The Berserker (Ominous Pipe Organ meets electric guitar)
- Magus Killer - Kiritsugu Emiya's Leitmotif.
- The Dogfight
- The Battle Field
- ↑ ... unfortunately off-screen in the game, though excellently shown in the anime adaptation.
