  • Acceptable Targets: Hitler is the only character to have something horrible happen to him at the end of his video (both times). But come on, HE'S HITLER!
  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Most of the rappers' personalities are exaggerated from what history remembers, or canon in the case of fictional characters. Example, Beiber is depicted as an annoying, pint-sized brat, but more likely than not, the real Beiber is not as annoying (some of the time). And Mister Rogers was normally a friendly man, but here he is a vicious yet soft spoken sadist. And possibly a racist.
  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: Or they must have when the rematch between Hitler and Vader came out, if the sheer number of requests for that were any indication.
  • Attractive Bent Gender: NicePeter as Lady Gaga.
  • Complete Monster: It's no surprise that Adolf Hitler counts as one. He makes casual jokes about The Holocaust while he raps against Darth Vader. To downplay this, he's a Laughably Evil Card-Carrying Villain.
    • Genghis Khan, while not as bad as Hitler, threatens to kill the Easter Bunny's family and then make a coat from their carcasses. He's also a rapist. "Now my DNA's in dudes from New York to Japan." Like Hitler, he's also Laughably Evil.
    • Surprisingly averted with Kim Jong-Il, whose injustices against his people are mentioned in passing.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The Adolf Hitler versus Darth Vader rap (both their first battle and rematch) qualifies.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: The series has a number of sick beats. Ones that stand out include:
    • Beethoven vs. Bieber.
    • Shakespeare's second verse. Holy Shit. Even the Cat in The Hat is impressed.
      • The Cat in The Hat was no slouch either.
    • Columbus vs. Kirk. Not quite Ominous Latin Chanting, but it's close, and still epic.
    • NicePeter vs. EpicLloyd. That beat would not sound out of place on a radio song.
    • The Vader vs. Hitler rematch has the soundtrack of Van Helsing as its background music, and it's awesome.
    • Michael Jackson vs. Elvis Presley.
    • Cleopatra vs. Marilyn Monroe has a very fitting Egyptian-themed beat behind it and it makes the rap battle that much more awesome.
  • Curb Stomp Battle: Justin Bieber VS. Beethoven. Given Bieber's reputation on YouTube, you can probably imagine how this goes.
    • The Easter Bunny vs. Genghis Khan.
  • Funny Aneurysm Moment: Rap Battle #5; The Macho Man died about 4 months later after it was released. Then Kim Jong-Il passed away in December, though Kim could be considered an Acceptable Target, much like Hitler.
  • Genius Bonus:
    • Happens constantly during Einstein vs. Hawking, obviously. For example, p-brane (pronounced the same as pea-brain) is a vital element in string theory. Also, 'relatively blown' refers to Einstein's best known theory (relativity).
    • The entirety on Shakespeare's first verse is in iambic pentameter. Minds will be blown.
      • Not only that, but it's complete with Ye Olde Englishe phrases, pronunciation and theatrical gestures.
    • Occasionally, well-known hip-hop diss tracks are referenced in the lyrics.
    • Said to the Wright Brothers: "You might fly like a hawk, but you fight like a kitty!"
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Darth Vader tells Hitler(played by Lloyd) that he has a Napoleon dick. Guess who Lloyd plays in a later video?
      • In the rematch, Vader comments that he's "on the leader of your limp-dicked Luftwaffe" before making a reference to Lucas's other famous production, Indiana Jones. Then another Lucas production about pilots taking down the Luftwaffe came out.
    • In Battle 4, Lady Gaga makes (albiet derogatory) a reference to the Jackson 5. Battle 19, The King of Pop himself (with a short appearance by his sibs) takes a shot at the mic. Both Gaga and Adult!MJ are played by Nice Peter to boot.
    • Speaking of which, what about in Battle 6 when Justin Bieber says he's the next Michael Jackson? Or Genghis Khan telling the Easter Bunny that he's about to feel Wrath of Khan before Captain Kirk rapped?
  • Ho Yay: Bill O'Reilly is willing to give George Bush fellatio than give one to Yoko Ono.
    • Abraham Lincoln says that he's willing to eat Chuck Norris's chest hair. Somewhat fitting, given the more recent rumors that he may have been gay.
  • Long Runners: Arguably Stephen Hawking. Hawking has appeared in a grand total of four battles[1]. Adding to this perception, he's also considered to be Darth Vader's Dragon.
  • Memetic Mutation: There are so many requests for a Barack Obama VS Osama Bin Laden match that it might as well be this.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Mr. Rogers is rather unsettling in his portrayal. And there's something kinda iffy about the Easter Bunny, too.
    • Dr. Seuss can be quite unsettling as The Voiceless Marionette Master that he is. Despite being in a participant in a rap battle, he never says a word, only grinning and glaring menacingly while summoning his creations to battle for him.
    • Darth Vader in the rematch when he removes his helmet.
    • Bill O'Reilly's eyes when he says he's evil.
  • Rule of Cool: The foundation of the whole series.
  • The Scrappy: Justin Bieber, as to be expected. Guess how often he's picked as the loser out of hate for him rather than because Beethoven legitimately rapped better than him. This might well have been on purpose.
    • Thing One and Thing Two are not exactly popular with the general public.
  • The Woobie: The Easter Bunny really bites off more than he can chew.
